Namco Bandai opening Vancouver and Singapore offices in June

Studios to focus on creating games for respective regions.

Namco Bandai has announced that it will be opening game development studios in Vancouver and Singapore later in June.

The Vancouver studio will be called Namco Bandai Studios Vancouver Inc., and will focus on developing social games. It will be located at the Centre for Digital Media at the Great Northern Way Campus. According to news from the British Columbia Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training website, Namco Bandai set up shop in the region because it was attracted by British Columbia's programs like the Major Investment Office hosting program and the Investment and Company Attraction Branch.

The Singapore studio, called Namco Bandai Studios Singapore Pte. Ltd., will be based at the Mediapolis that's located in the One North district. The studio will develop game content for the Asian region.

In addition to a developer panel featuring game director Dustin Browder and 3D artist Luke Mancini, a cosplay contest and prize giveaways took place. The Australian qualifier finals for the kicked off on the morning of March 15, hosted by the Australian Cyber League. The top two teams will go through to the Call of Duty Championship in North America, taking place from April 5-7. Tune in to the stream to catch up with all the action, recorded from Sydney!

Assassin's Creed IV being built by 1,000 people?

EA executive producer claims developer headcount for upcoming stealth-action game is "nearly" 1,000; Ubisoft declines to comment.

and according to a new claim, may have a developer headcount of nearly 1,000.

Electronic Arts executive producer Giordano Contestabile recently , "Assassin's Creed IV is made by 7 studios and (I hear) nearly 1,000 people. Is this new new AAA?"

Asked to comment on this figure, a Ubisoft representative told GameSpot, "Ubisoft does not traditionally comment on developer headcount."

Ubisoft more than 7,450 people across the world, including 6,250 dedicated to game production. If Contestabile's claim is accurate, 16 percent of all Ubisoft production talent is working on Assassin's Creed: Black Flag.

The eight studios working on Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag are the company's outfits in Montreal, Singapore, Sofia, Annecy, Kiev, Quebec, Bucharest, and Montpellier.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag launches October 29. It is in development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, Wii U, and "other" next-generation platforms. For more, check out .

The unthinkable is happening: Minecraft, a game that's all but indistinguishable from the rise and rise of digital content, will see release on discs. Albeit only in the US, Australia, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan for the moment.

Disc-based version of open-world creation game launching late next month in United States for $20.

A disc-based version of today. The game will include all the same features and content found in the Xbox Live version, as well as new additions to be introduced through upcoming title updates.

"The retail game will be exactly the same as the digital version in every way, including support for multiplayer connectivity between the retail game and the digital download," PlayXBLA explained. "And the retail disc version will receive all the same content and feature updates as the digital version ongoing."

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will release in Australia, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan in early June. No mention was made of a release in Europe or other territories.

The game originally launched through Xbox Live last May, scoring a --generating $100 million in revenue--as of the end of 2012.
