Carl Williams writes, "Ever since Nintendo released Super Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo, oh so many years ago, companies have tried to copy that specific formula for success with varying results. Sega is one such company that has tried to take their existing stable of characters and create kart racing games with them as the stars (Sonic R on Saturn and more recently two of the games on this list). Even Sony got in on the action with Crash Team Racing on the original Playstation, even the WWE has a kart racing game out (on Playstation 2). This is one of those genres that is pretty much dominated by one or two companies (Nintendo usually doesnt have all that much to worry about). We feel that the key to success in this genre is the characters, hence this list."

People made a big deal about how crazy it was to see Sonic the Hedgehog on Nintendo systems in the days following Sega's move from first- to third-party status. But was it really that shocking? Sonic had already flirted with other first parties when he showed up as a Neo Geo Pocket Color launch title, and those Sonic Advance games were ultimately just an extension of that.

Until Dawn began life as a PlayStation Move exclusive title for the PS3, first announced in mid-2012. Fast forward to August 2015 and Until Dawn has finally released, exclusively for Sonys next-gen console. The game promises a teen-slasher story that will change based on player choices, similar to other PlayStation exclusive hits such as Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Featuring a recognisable cast of actors, motion capture use for animation and a classic horror narrative, does Until Dawn manage to join those two games in the Sony exclusive story game hall of fame, or will the game be forgotten by the time the night is over?
