Blizzplanet Preview: Test-Driving LiquidSky Cloud Gaming with Blizzard Games

Added: 07.04.2015 23:17 | 21 views | 0 comments

LiquidSky Software, Inc. gave Blizzplanet VIP access to their developer client to test-drive and preview their cloud gaming SkyOS' capabilities. Cloud gaming means playing your favorite video games in LiquidSky's supercomputer servers which in turn take care of the intensive CPU and GPU computing processes and livestream it directly into your computer through the SkyOS client. The SkyOS downloads files at a blazing 70-100MB/s, and runs World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Heroes of the Storm, and Diablo III at Ultra settings with barely a visual impact on frames per seconds with up to 45-65 fps. Blizzplanet shares his hands-on experience with this new SkyOS Alpha client, and shows video of each Blizzard Entertainment video game cranked up to the max settings. In addition, an Android version is planned to go into beta testing in a few weeks.

PSA: You May Be in the StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void Beta

The closed beta test for (something you can also do for Blizzard's other franchises). Beyond that, there's little you can do to help your chances of getting in--testers are selected based on things like systems specs, recent StarCraft II activity, and luck.

In the future, there will be giveaways that provide access. Alternatively, if you bought a ticket to BlizzCon (the event or a Virtual Ticket) or the StarCraft II WCS 2014 Global Finals, you'll be getting "priority access" before people who have simply indicated they're interested in the beta. Because beta keys aren't being distributed right now, only the account that bought tickets to any of the aforementioned events will get access, even if you bought multiple tickets.

The lack of beta keys also means one other thing: If you're notified about a way to receive one, it's a scam.

There's no time table for how long the beta will run for. Even if you don't get in, those who do have access are free to stream and talk about the experience, so there won't be any shortage of details to come in the weeks and months ahead.
