Review: Call of Juarez: Gunslinger The Good, The Bad The Awesome | HeyUGuys Gaming

HUGG Writes: Has Call of Juarez: Gunslinger made up for the mess left by The Cartel or has it shot itself in the foot. We get back in the saddle with our review. After the unmitigated disaster that was The Cartel, we honestly thought that Techland and Ubisoft would drop the Call of Juarez franchise all together, so when Gunslinger was announced, it was a bit of a surprise. The series has never set the world alight, but its debut Bound in Blood were solid and garnished some critical success. Even though Ubisoft have reduced their risk by offering Gunslinger as a download only title, and it has received little to no marketing, this game could put Call of Juarez back on the gaming landscape.

TCO writes: "Theres nothing worse than being super excited for a new game to come out, only to find out that its terrible once you actually get to play it. Well, Call of Juarez: The Cartel was like that for me and it made me doubt Techlands ability to ever make a good game in the series. When they announced Gunslinger, I wanted to be excited but I just couldnt get past how disappointing The Cartel had been. Now that Gunslinger is finally out, did Techland prove me wrong? Did they finally make a good Call of Juarez game? Lets find out."

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Review | D+PAD Magazine

Added: 28.05.2013 14:18 | 12 views | 0 comments

D+PAD Magazine writes: Whats up with Techland? To say the least, the Polish developer has a tough time staying consistent. They recently put out Dead Island: Riptide, a slated sequel to the much more appealing original, and the totally shoddy Call of Juarez: The Cartel followed the much-liked Bound in Blood. So, Techland have stayed true to their wildly inconsistent nature and delivered Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, a distinct downloadable take on their previously disc-based Western shooter which, as you might have guessed it, actually has a hell of a lot going for it.

El33tonline writes: "Techland is keeping itself very busy these days, having recently wrapped up development on two games (Dead Island: Riptide and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger), but the Polish studio still has two additional games in the works (that we know about), one of which is the first-person dungeon crawling RPG, Hellraid."

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Review | Digital Chumps

Added: 28.05.2013 4:18 | 13 views | 0 comments

Digital Chumps: "This displays why downloadable services like XBLA exist. Clearly, Techland had some ideas for a new installment in a series, but weren't enough to warrant a disc release. So instead of creating a bunch of nonsense to constitute a full $60 release, they worked things down and made an abbreviated experience for a lower price. Playing the game is a blast, as the whole "desperado" feeling comes through in spades. Story is a fun play through, and could be done in one sitting. But the Duel and Arcade modes offer a good amount of re-playability. And despite some inconsistencies in the presentation, nothing is enough to spoil the party. If CoJ was at the 800 MS Points price level, I would say this is a "download NOW" type game. At $15, cop the trial and decide for yourself. If you like what you play, I doubt you'll be disappointed."

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Review [Capsule Computers]

Added: 26.05.2013 15:18 | 16 views | 0 comments

Zac Elawar from Capsule Computers wrote: "Gunslinger is the fourth title in the Call of Juarez series from Polish developer Techland (Dead Island). Critically, it became popular opinion that the series lost its way with the sub-par Call of Juarez: The Cartel in 2011, but now Techland are re-focusing the franchise with this downloadable entry. Has the more compact game model forced the team to funnel their creativity and that focus? Or is Gunslinger just not quick enough on the draw?"
