Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Review | The Game Scouts

Tin Salamunic: Despite its shortcomings, Techlands 2009 sequel Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood was a sleeper hit offering exciting shooting mechanics, a beautiful Wild West backdrop, and a meaty campaign. Shifting the FPS genre to a Western setting felt refreshing and it was a real shame that The Cartel took the entire franchise to its grave two years later. Hoping to redeem themselves, Techland decided to revert to its old Western roots with a shift towards arcade-style gameplay and a good dose of humor. While I was somewhat skeptical at first, Im happy to report that Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is a remarkable sequel that puts the series back on the map. With its comic book style presentation and a heavier focus on headshot combos and climbing score charts, Techland finally found the perfect balance between western badassery and unadulterated silliness.

Dead Island dev reveals next-gen open-world game Dying Light

Warner Bros. to publish first-person survival horror game from Techland; boasts day-night cycle, open-world; launching in 2014 for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced Dying Light, an open-world first-person survival horror game from Dead Island and Call of Juarez developer Techland.

The game will launch in 2014 for next-generation platforms like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, current-generation systems including the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as the PC.

No mention was made of a Wii U release and a Warner Bros. representative could not be reached for comment.

Dying Light features a full day-night cycle. In the day, players will explore an urban environment beset by "a vicious outbreak." Gamers must scavenge the world for supplies and weapons to defend themselves from the infected.

When day turns to night, "the hunter becomes the hunted," Warner Bros. said. The infected will become aggressive during the evening and certain predators will only appear after sundown.

"The next-gen technology allows us to create a truly dynamic open world that features a game-changing day-night cycle," said Techland CEO Pawe#322; Marchewka in a statement. "Inventive free running mechanics also allow for nearly unrestricted exploration and weapon-crafting to further enhance the action survival experience."

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Review | GodisaGeek

GodisaGeek: "Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is a great little shooter that I will happily be dipping into again for a dose of sunshine over the rainy summer months. There is enough here to keep you entertained for quite a while and, for the price, I cant think of a way to get more bang for your buck. A tremendous little surprise, Techland should be commended for finally finding the formula for success."
