Digital Spy writes: "It isn't a bad story, with plenty of intrigue from its setting and characters. The issue comes in when it tries to take a leap into the realm of allegory, where it never feels ties itself together thematically in a satisfying way.
"In that way, Transistor is like a virtual croissant. It is layered and delicious, but there is a lingering airy emptiness to it that makes it hard to fill up on just one.
"Have another, or in this case play through Transistor again in Recursion mode, and you'll have your fill, but the deeper meaning it strives for feels like little more than empty carbs."

Transistors the kind of game that made me immediately jump back in to take on New Game Plus. I wanted to continue exploring the excellent combat in new, more challenging scenarios. I wanted to double back on the areas that Id missed the first time through, and try to fill in the gaps of the fantastic story. But most of all, I wasnt ready to leave Red or her world behind.

"I didnt turn on my PS4 and start up Transistor expecting to have all my sci-fi action RPG needs satisfied in a single, breathtaking, artistic flourish. Heavy, hidden emotion throughout the entire experience makes you forget yourself and sink into the story. Enemies, gameplay, music, environment, and characters are all painted with this same deep hue." - PSLS

Transistor is beautiful and engaging with a brilliant combat systems that encourages careful planning before and during battle. Its just a shame the story holds it back from being a true classic.

Transfusive, transitory, and transcendent.
On a surface but intimate level, has yet another stunning gem in its hands.

Drew Leachman writes: I was a pretty big fan of Bastion when it was released. The art style and presentation were very unique and interesting, and the way the story was told through narration was very well done. Lets not forget it was a blast to play as well. Supergiant Games returns with Transistor, yet another interesting title in both storytelling and style.
