Saints Row: The Third was a completely ludicrous open-world action extravaganza that was confident in its own skin. In my opinion, it was the first series entry that didnt feel like a poor mans Grand Theft Auto. After GTAIV went gritty and quasi-realistic, Volition did the right thing and amped up the silly, over-the-top zaniness to the nth degree. Less realism, more absurdity.

eXophase: "No, Saints Row IV is maybe not as novel as Saints Row: The Third was, but its still super insane, and the new implementations thrown in by Volition ensure that Saints Row IV is a must-play for fans, as well as a must-try for those whove yet to give this series a go."

It's great that next gen platforms aren't "typical" upgrades, says senior producer.
Volition's Saints Row 4 is out in the UK today, and if you've read our review, you'll know it's an utter hoot. The developer has yet to announce what it's up to next, but senior producer Jim Boone was prepared to discuss some broad possibilities for Xbox One and PS4 when I caught up with him at a hands-on last month.

It may now be Europes second largest games publisher, but Deep Silver insists it will stay true to its independent roots.
The Dead Island publisher saw its reputation rise this year following the acquisition of Saints Row, Volition and Metro: Last Light from bankrupt THQ.

| Review: Saints Row IV A Volition Masterpiece Worthy Of The Saints Row Tag (XLC Gaming Network)
Added: 21.08.2013 8:18 | 16 views | 0 comments
XLC Gaming Network writes:- The Saints Row franchise was always known to live in the shadows of the GTA titles. This though completely changes with Saints Row IV as Volition has created the near perfect sand-box title that the franchise and fans have waited for and deserve. Saints Row IV contains such great scripting, hilarious gameplay and the wackiest outing yet it really is going to be hard for anyone not to love the experience on offer. Saints Row IV can now finally stand above those that call it a poor mans GTA and shout from the roof tops I am my own game and a damn great one at that.

Eskimo Press: "Saints Row IV is far from being a perfect game and it doesn't do much, if anything at all, to revolutionize the genre... but here it doesn't matter. The Saints Row franchise had already set itself aside from other open-world sandbox games for being over-the-top, out-of-this-world and just flat-out fun, but Volition have gone that extra step further to make Saints Row IV the best damn parody and homage to everything we both loved and hated in the last 15 years. It's Saints Row IV's humour that ultimately makes this game one of the greatest experiences of this year; it's insane... it's stupid... and ridiculously fun. It is all of these things yet it remains classy and stylish. If your heart is beating the chances are you will most likely love Saints Row IV."

Examiner: "With the release of Saints Row IV's Inauguration Station, Volition and Deep Silver gave players the ability to create their characters for the game in advance. . .With the game releasing tomorrow, it only makes sense to go through some of these and highlight our favorites. Who knows, maybe you'll choose to spend your next twenty hours with someone else's creation."
