Entertainment Fuse: Saints Row IV (PC) Review: Return to Steelport with Superpowers

Added: 16.08.2013 11:18 | 16 views | 0 comments

Saved during the liquidation of THQ by Koch Media earlier this year, Deep Silver and Volition have swung true with a grand slam on Saints Row IV. Slathered with lowbrow and risque humor throughout the games storyline and design the team at Volition has concocted another hilarious parody of a third-person sandbox shooter with a twist, superpowers. Instead of pitting the Saints against the Saturday morning rendition superheroes follow up to Saints Row: The Third; Volition has gone one dimensional step beyond the Steelport of old. Hopefully this wont be the last Saints Row title by Volition, with the amounts of blasts from the past that were put into the game one can only wonder if there is a future for the Saints. Either way, Saints Row IV has delivered on another debaucherously funny storyline and game environment coupled with superpowers that make for a more engaging experience as you travel around Steelport.

CGM Reviews: Saints Row IV

Added: 15.08.2013 18:19 | 6 views | 0 comments

Saints Row is probably done. Or, at least, the story told in the first Saints Row that now culminates in a gang leader/President of the USA taking on aliens feels like a story that has come to a natural (kinda, sorta) close. Theres no doubt that the Saints Row franchise will continue after this fourth release, but if Volition and Deep Silver are smart, they will respect the arc they have created with Pierce, Shaundi, Kinzie and the player created leader of the Saints. Its a fitting close; a funny, raunchy, juvenile, surprisingly smart open world romp that is full of fun and, unfortunately, bugs.

Review: Saints Row IV (DarkZero)

Added: 15.08.2013 18:19 | 6 views | 0 comments

"Crazy, insane, nutty, wacky, bizarre, ridiculous and comical are all words that probably came out of your mouth while playing the 2011 extraordinarily absurd Saints Row: The Third. Volition has done wonders to change their approach to Saints Row, which started as a GTA-like gangster game back in 2006. As each sequel released, the series began to gain confidence and grow out of its shell to become its own Identity. Saints Row: The Third was the game to bring the series into the spotlight, splashing its own DNA onto the open-world gameplay and throwing out the rule-book. Volition opted to have a laugh with their series, going the way of comedy and keeping the serious tone down, and no matter what one highly regarded game creator might think, Volition took the step in the right direction and gave us a game that has never heard of the words realism or dull."

GotGame: Review | Saints Row IV

GotGame: Overall Saints Row 4 is definitely the top in the series, and probably one of the best sandbox titles out there right now. Sure, it may be over the top, but Volition knows that and plays up to it every chance they get. Saints Row 4 is one of the best sandbox titles out there and knows how to keep gamers coming back for more.

Laser Lemming Writes "By metaphorically jumping the shark, Volition have finally managed to shake the GTA clone moniker properly and establish Saints Row as a series with its own bold identity and brand of humour to boot."
