Toukiden Kiwami Review | Attack On Gaming

"To see Omega Force to develop a game such as Toukiden is quite interesting. Despite their decorated history focusing on musou games such as Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and the recently enhanced port of Bladestorm, Omega Force dives into the action role playing genre. Toukiden: The Age of Demons was released in June 2013 in Japan and February 2014 in North America and Europe, exclusively for the Playstation Portable (in Japan) and the Playstation Vita. The game was a hit in Japan and an enhanced port, entitled Toukiden Kiwami was developed for the two Playstation handhelds as well as the Playstation 4 (only in the west). It can be safely said, then, that playing Toukiden Kiwami has been an enjoyable experience, bringing in excellent Monster Hunter style gameplay with a few twists that keeps it fresh and exciting." - Attack On Gaming

| PS4 Review - 'Bladestorm: Nightmare' | Worthplaying

WP:
Strategy games are pretty rare on a console. It's difficult to argue that RTS titles are better suited for the PC, which offers precise movement and numerous hotkeys. We've seen plenty of attempts, ranging from voice-controlled games to fast-paced heavy metal action games, but all have been found wanting. Bladestorm, released in 2007, was one of the more memorable attempts. It was partially a spiritual sequel to a now-obscure franchise called Kessen, an attempt to mix army-based RTS gameplay with the larger-than-life historical heroes concept of the Dynasty Warriors titles. Unfortunately, it was dragged down by console limitations and some design problems. With Bladestorm: Nightmare, the console limitations are no longer a factor, but despite some noble attempts to update it, the gameplay still feels hopelessly dated.

DC:
Toukiden: Kiwami is essentially two games seamlessly integrated into one. You get last year's solid Vita exclusive Toukiden: Age of Demons, and upon completing it, a massive whole new campaign with lots of new goodies in Kiwami.
Last February I played what I still consider to be one of the Vita's best exclusive titles, Toukiden: The Age of Demons. I strongly recommend checking out that review for fo and thoughts on Toukiden, as all of that is still valid for Kiwami. At the time, I believed it was hands down the best game I have ever played by Omega Force, the studio behind the Dynasty Warriors and Bladestorm games. Both of those things are no longer quite true since I have now spent time with Toukiden: Kiwami. Kiwami is available on both the Vita and the PS4, and it also includes the full Age of Demons game within it. Yet, Kiwami is more than just an expansion pack, yet it's also not exactly its own game, either. You have to clear Age of Demons' story to get to Kiwami...

TSA:
Toukiden Kiwami has arrived at just the right time for publisher KOEI Tecmo. Developed by Dynasty Warriors studio, Omega Force, this revamped version of last years demon-slaying RPG is looking to plug the hole left vacant by the absence of a decent multiplayer action game on the PlayStation 4.
Similar to Omegas recent Bladestorm: Nightmare, Toukiden Kiwami isnt what you would classify as a conventional sequel. Its more of a remake, brought up to date by a raft of improvements, more content, and some new game features. Kiwami also marks the fledgling IPs debut on home consoles which is great news for multiplayer action fans fed up of turning to their 3DS or Vita for a quick fix.

| Toukiden: Kiwami Review [MonsterVine]

MonsterVine: "Omega Force, creators of the Dynasty Warriors series, released Toukiden: Age of Demons on the Vita and a year later Kiwami comes out as an expansion to that game. Youre going to see me mention Monster Hunter a lot in this review because Toukiden is as close as you can get to that series without having Capcoms lawyers bang on your door."
