Digital Spy: "Out of the three, we'd recommend 'The Redemption' over the previous episodes - and you don't need to purchase the other two to play it - but ultimately, the series fails to live up to its promising premise."
OXM: "Despite clocking in at around 2.5 hours, The Redemption rushes you through the final paces of the three-part Tyranny of King Washington saga so doggedly and with such gaping holes throughout the narrative that we were left with a sense of nagging unfulfillment, not closure. A few instances of greatness shine through, like the build-up to your final confrontation with Washington, which gave us the first real boss-battle nerves weve experienced in Assassins Creed. But its not enough to erase the feeling that our time in frontier-era New York was merely a highly interactive but rather shallow bit of cinema."
Leaked internal Microsoft memo for next-gen platform states system will be "tolerant of today's Internet."
Numerous reports have .
"Durango is designed to deliver the future of entertainment while engineered to be tolerant of today's Internet," reads a line from the memo, reportedly sent to all full-time staffers working on the next Xbox.
"There are a number of scenarios that our users expect to work without an Internet connection, and those should 'just work' regardless of their current connection status," it goes on. "Those include, but are not limited to: playing a Blu-ray disc, watching live TV, and yes playing a single-player game."
It is not clear when the memo was sent to developers. A Microsoft representative told GameSpot, "We're excited to share more about the new generation of games, TV, and entertainment on May 21, but have nothing further to share at this time."
Most recently, noted Windows blogger Paul Thurrott claimed the , but suggested that the feature "isn't as Draconian as many seem to believe."
Microsoft is widely believed to formally unveil its next Xbox during an at the company's headquarters in Redmond, Washington on May 21.
This announcement will "mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV, and entertainment." The event will be streamed through Xbox.com, Xbox Live, and Spike TV in the United States and Canada.
I was originally going to do individual episode reviews, but deiced that doing a full review on all them together would get the full story and sanctification I wanted as a fan of the series. We all know the United States of Americas history of beating the impossible odds of winning a revolution against the worlds most powerful country England. This takes a little spin on the whole lid, the U.S. still wins the war but something goes wrong and the whole cycle gets renewed as Mad King Washington goes crazy with power. Only Connor can stop him but..not as himself.
GameFront: "The Redemption itself ends on a ho-hum note and, while it occasionally can be a fun time, it never reaches the point of being exceptional or even especially compelling. And looking back, neither does The Tyranny of King Washington. Its an expansion back that was bursting with potential, but which winds up being mired in the doldrums of weak storytelling. The Tyranny takes no risks, and it becomes hard to be all that enthusiastic about it. Animal powers and George Washington making his angry face arent really worth the $30 asking price, or really, the six- to eight-hour time commitment unless youre some kind of huge Assassins Creed fan. The rest of us wont gain much from the experience except a lighter wallet."
Continuing on from where the second installment ended, the third and final installment of the Assassins Creed DLC continues with Ratohnhake:tons, or Connors (which is much easier to say and spell) mission to stop King George Washington and restore peace to a nation that has fallen under his terrible rule as part of this alternate history epic.
Right from the get-go you are back in New York Harbour aboard the Aquila. The action starts straight away and the first order of business is a battle at sea. Nothing new here if youve played the main game, but its a nice change of pace to indulge in a bit of naval warfare. With the next Assassins Creed outing being Black Flag based on a pirating mission, this was an invaluable pre-test for Ubisoft to make sure theyve got those features spot on for a major release.
Former Microsoft creative director says there's no reason an MMO set in Albion shouldn't do "reasonably well."
Peter Molyneux, outspoken former Lionhead Studios boss, has commented on the possibility of a Fable MMO. Speaking with , he said the idea is nothing new.
"When we were brainstorming what to do next in Fable, there was always a, 'Maybe we should go and do the MMO route?'," Molyneux said. "There were theories about how you would level up and class up and what the classes would be and so on, but we never got out of the brainstorming segment of that."
Molyneux explained that a Fable MMO could work "quite well" if the "charm" of the series--that being the world of Albion and its humor--were kept intact.
"I can see that that would work. The thing about Fable is that it was such a rich world. It was, well, what the name says it is. It#146;s all about Fable and Albion and this idea of legends and humour. RPGs are great for MMO transitions," Molyneux said.
"I can see that that concept works, and works quite well. I think the charm of Fable was in the feeling of the world and definitely the humour," he added. "If they keep that in an MMO, then there#146;s no reason why it shouldn#146;t do reasonably well, I don't think."
