When Games for Windows Live support was removed from Dark Souls last year, I rejoiced. I imagine folks did the same for Dead Rising 2, Resident Evil 5, and other games that ditched Microsoft's PC gaming platform. It may have bruised Microsoft's ego, but the company appears to have learned from its mistakes.

Sony hasnt had a terribly large presence at Gamescom this year, certainly not at the level of Microsoft MSFT -0.71% which actually had a full-on stage show earlier in the week. But they have debuted one interesting new piece of tech for the PS4 which could almost work as a quasi-answer to Microsofts new Windows 10-to-Xbox One streaming functionality.
