Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS release window revealed, runs at 60fps on 3DS

During a Nintendo Direct presentation today, Nintendo revealed the release window for the highly anticipated fighter Super Smash Bros.

  • The 3DS version is due Summer 2014
  • The Wii U version is coming Winter 2014

No specific reason was given for the release date disparity, though it's probably safe to assume that the more graphically intensive Wii U version would require a slightly longer development period. While there will be some differences between the Wii U and 3DS of the game, the fighter roster will be the same.

Nintendo also confirmed that Smash Bros. would run at 60fps on 3DS, although some assist trophies would be brought down to 30fps.

We'll be following the Smash Bros.-focused presentation live and reporting on breaking stories as they occur, but you can also follow along live via the video above or over on the

Added: 05.04.2014 11:19 | 14 views | 0 comments

"The Firmware Update features a now full-of-free-time Joe Garcia trying out Dark Souls II. How did he do? What tips does Malcolm have about conquering this epic game? Also, listen as the boys try their best to get you to go watch the new Captain America without saying anything about it. Talking points: Is Captain America now on par with Iron Man?; The Last of Us new Bullshit difficulty mode; great news for Star Wars and Uncharted fans; WrestleMania 30 predictions; 2014 April Fools Day jokes; Amazons Fire TV; The Last of Us coming to PS4 maybe (definitely); 1,000 games coming to PlayStation all at once; when PS3 games will stop being made; should inFamous be an annual game; is the Arkham Knight just Joker for the 50 millionth time?; and Kodak drones." - Malcolm Spinedi

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Review (iPhone, iPad, Android)

Gamezebo Rating: 60

If hope springs eternal, then very few places see it sprout as often as in the garden of mobile games based on super hero movies. Gameloft is trying again with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, learning something from its but still not hitting the mark with something that's as awesome as it seems it could be.

As the movie by the same name hasn't been released in the U.S. yet (lucky overseas audiences!), there's no way for me to tell you if the game contains spoilers. What I can relay is that New York is under attack by multiple criminal conglomerates with acronyms for names, and Cap has to lead S.H.I.E.L.D. agents into the fray to set things right. Presumably, the Winter Soldier is also involved at some point.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Not American and not a comic book fan? Then the chances are you didn't give two hoots about Captain America prior to his 2011 cinematic renaissance. The steroid-pumped boyscout was designed for an era when heroes were expected to be high of moral fortitude and moderate of power, shot through with a primary-coloured streak of nationalistic fervour. Thanks to the current Marvel Avengers series...

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is not worth playing. Go watch the movie instead.

Gameloft has done a good enough job in making everything look all razzle dazzle. There's some 'interestingly' done cutscenes with comic book cutouts, and the game itself has enough visual sheen to make you consider giving a thumbs up. But then you start playing the damn thing.

Following a standard 'go here and get into a fight' approach, it has multiple control schemes, all of which are utter gumpf. What's more, half the time The Winter Soldier just plays itself. The idea is that you tap the direction you'd like to head in and the enemies you'd like to smack in the face – with...
