Early today "Defiance" servers were brought down to apply patch 1.012. This patch fixed several major issue plaguing the MMO shooter while enhancing the overall quality of the game. Aside from general server stability improvements, players can also expect to see more active random encounters. Although these encounters no longer reward keycodes since the "Sharks in Winter Solstice" patch, players can still complete them for scrip. Larger problems like losing items in the salvage matrix and loadouts not saving properly have also been "improved." PvPers should be pleased to see the correct capture and hold results at the end of a match now making the new episode pursuits completable. Finally, missions will only offer credit if a player actively participates in the mission now. With this change, leech camping might be somewhat rectified.

Like most first patches in MMO history, the update includes numerous fixes to bugs, changes to balancing, and improvements to client stability. The patch was deployed on PC and Xbox 360 servers early this morning with PS3 to follow soon. There is no date scheduled right now, however. The patch had a few issues which resulted in additional downtime, but the servers are now up. Pursuit related problems caused by the patch should be rectified while some minor pursuits were still reset.

'Sharks in Winter Solstice,' the first major update to "Defiance," was added just days ago. This followed the first two episodes' pursuits for the Armistice Festival, but that's not all that has been added to the game. Alongside the update to "Defiance," new outfits are now available in the Defiance Store. Not to mention, a new set of fixes were patched in today on the PC and Xbox 360 servers. Today's update; however, is all about fixes. Particular scopes have been fixed, certain contracts should be working correctly, and grouping for Shadow War has been addressed. It's also important to note that the frequency at which armistice emergencies occur has been increased with today's update.
