AusGamers has reviewed Destiny: House of Wolves and writes:
"What are the ingredients that make up an expansion? Specifically, for what has been marketed as a competitive and cooperative online shooter with role-playing elements. New content for one thing. New areas to explore, too. And perhaps, an increase in level-cap or new skills to try out. But perhaps the key role for any expansion lies in the word itself. Which is to, you know, expand the game -- grow it in scope -- by taking this one thing and making it look, feel, and play, bigger.
On paper House of Wolves sounds like an expansion, with new content across the board and the sort of quality of life changes youd expect. But in execution its more than a little underwhelming, and strangely presumptuous..."

Ultimately some games and expansions can be like the famous box of chocolates as they will serve you with something new and enticing every time you turn a corner. Whereas, House of Wolves, is like a cheap chocolate bar. Every piece of it is exactly the same as the other. It is satisfying, but, there will come a point where it will make you sick, and youll turn your back to it as the insipid taste that it has to offer will be of no interest to you.

Nick Gillham: "Without the expansion youre missing out on five story missions, the Prison of Elders, and the Trials of Osiris, but you can still hit that level cap without it. So, it depends if you want to play the new end game PVP and PvE content. Regardless, this is an improvement on The Dark Below, and for those who were still playing it gives them a little more reason to carry on."
