Has EA Ruined Sports Video Games?
Added: 28.07.2014 18:13 | 24 views | 0 comments
July is always a slow month for new releases in video games. In 2013 shortly after releasing NCAA 14 EA announced the NCAA had ended its deal with EA due to lawsuits with former players. Then in October EA and Tiger Woods part ways and rumors quickly spread that EA was losing exclusive rights to the NFL as well. EA Sports seems to have been kick around the past 12 months and with sales starting to drop. Is it time for leagues to stop exclusive rights and allow other publishers to start making sports titles again or has EA ruined it for everyone?

CCC Says: "Ah, the old Xbox fanboys are going to absolutely love me after this articles conclusion. Naturally, being the overbearing PS4 zealot I am (or at least believed to be), I can only imagine the amount of heat Ill acquire from the relentless trolling posts the comments section below will garner. In fact, Ive always wanted to eat a Smore made via flame post, so why dont I just go grab my marshmallows right now?! Of course I could spend my time attempting to convince those around me that Im a bigger Microsoft fan than Sony in many ways, that is likely a futile endeavor. Instead, Ill simply let the truth speak for me, as the facts are once again on my side. Pesky little things I knowbut useful they are indeed."

| EA Sports' PGA Tour more than just 'the next Tiger Woods game without Tiger Woods'

GameZone: "If you watched EA's E3 press conference in June, then you're probably aware there are some big changes coming to PGA Tour -- and I'm not just talking about dropping the name "Tiger Woods" from it. No, EA is making meaningful changes that actually change the way you play the game."

| Frontier on the "constant evolution" of Elite: Dangerous
Added: 03.07.2014 21:13 | 19 views | 0 comments
GRTV caught up with Elite Dangerous producer Adam Woods to discuss the game, VR support, crowdfunding and more.
"We have a few more beta releases coming up. A few more features that we'll be throwing in there. Then obviously we've got lots of optimisation snd bug fixing, things like that. And then in the sort of mid/distant future we've obviously got expansion packs we've already spoken briefly about that previously in different press releases and Kickstarter with such things as planetary landings, moving around your ship, getting out of your cockpit, all those sort of things."
It's like a constant evolution of Elite: Dangerous as such. We'll release the game, but then there's so much more to come in the future."

| E3 2014 Was Basically a Preview of 2015
Added: 25.06.2014 1:00 | 18 views | 0 comments
My first demo at E3 this year was Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. I loved it. The smooth gameplay, the open world, the graphics and the hilarity of the Fulton Recovery System put it on pace to be one of my favorite games of the week.
It held on to that claim, by the way. The Phantom Pain stands with the likes of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Dying Light, The Legend of Zelda for Wii U, Rainbow Six Siege, Batman: Arkham Knight andhellip; wait a minutehellip; do you guys feel that?
Right, itÄ‚Ë€â„Ës the slow drag of 2014.
All of the games I just rattled off? They were at E3 in at least one form or another and they wound up generating a lot of justified hype. The problem? They arenÄ‚Ë€â„Ët coming out until 2015.
2014, Good God YaÄ‚Ë€â„Ëll, What Is It Good For?
IÄ‚Ë€â„Ëm not trying to suggest that 2014 is going to be a doldrum for gaming. ThatÄ‚Ë€â„Ës simply not the case. We have the likes of Dragon Age: Inquisition, Super Smash Bros., Far Cry 4 and Alien: Isolation to look forward to.
But, man, remember like four months ago when so much more was stacked for this annum? Heck, there are three games from my list above that slipped out of 2014 and into 2015 alone!
As I look back on my schedule from E3, in fact, IÄ‚Ë€â„Ëm noticing that so much of my time going hands or eyes-on with games this year was done with titles that wonÄ‚Ë€â„Ët be dropping until next. I may very well be playing a huge chunk of this yearÄ‚Ë€â„Ës E3 games at next yearÄ‚Ë€â„Ës E3 before they release!
2014 will undoubtedly be a good year for video games. A solid year, perhaps, but it wonÄ‚Ë€â„Ët be a tremendous one. WeÄ‚Ë€â„Ëll have some big names drop between now and yearÄ‚Ë€â„Ës end, but I think next year is going to be stupid good.
I Blame It On The New Consoles
I place the blame for this whole thing squarely on the shoulders of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Except in the case of Nintendo, of course.
NintendoÄ‚Ë€â„Ës a company thatÄ‚Ë€â„Ës both finding its way with stuff like amiibo and whatever quality of life product theyÄ‚Ë€â„Ëre working on, and one thatÄ‚Ë€â„Ës struggling to get out from below a rocky start for the Wii U. IÄ‚Ë€â„Ëm not surprised that the things IÄ‚Ë€â„Ëm most excited for from them wonÄ‚Ë€â„Ët be coming out for another year. I look at YoshiÄ‚Ë€â„Ës Wooly World, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse and the new Legend of Zelda for examples of their slow recovery.
For Sony and Microsoft? I imagine developers are basically now passing their first year with the consoles in their possession. The games that weÄ‚Ë€â„Ëve seen so far have either been short first party forays or ports from the last generation to this one.
This generational straddlers seem like, mostly, "HD" touch-ups. The Master Chief Collection, The Last of Us Remastered and this yearÄ‚Ë€â„Ës Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition all serve as evidence of this point.
We have developers and publishers working with two and three year dev-cycles for their software. Of course the stuff that weÄ‚Ë€â„Ëre seeing now is either simplistic or little more than a port. Ports are great ways for companies to learn the ins and outs of coding for new hardware, and they yield relatively easy scratch.
That just means that we gamers are going to wait two or three years after launch until we see the real new generation of video games.
2014, especially after E3, seems like the heart of that waiting period. As DICE figures out Battlefront and MirrorÄ‚Ë€â„Ës Edge, as Naughty Dog works on Uncharted and as CD Projekt RED builds The Witcher 3, weÄ‚Ë€â„Ëll be waiting.
If E3 2014 showed me anything, itÄ‚Ë€â„Ës that 2015 is going to be one hell of a year.

David: Golf is a skill that takes some time to get the hang of, but with King of the Course, you can become a pro in an instant. Dont be too cocky, though, as the challenges in this game will test your abilities, as having the perfect swing and maximum control over your ball is a must in order to get all three stars. King of the Course does not feature any real golfers from the PGA or any other organization, but you wont mind as the competition will be very stiff regardless of this fact. Heres our guide on how you can become the next Tiger Woods and be the ultimate king of the course.
