UPDATE: Microsoft confirms Xbox One digital titles will offer the same gamerscore as retail games.
Xbox One digital titles may have the potential to offer up to 1,000 Gamerscore, if the recently released list of achievements for Halo: Spartan Assault are anything to go by. The Xbox 360 build for the game has a total of 400G to earn, as per current gen digital titles, whilst the Xbox One edition offers a full 1,000.
Albionest with you, this looks quite good.
That subheading pun may already have been deployed by OXM's weekend writer Ben Borthwick, who can't let a game title go by without subjecting it to a terrifying abuse of language. Sorry Ben. Anyway! Lionhead has released some new shots of Fable: Anniversary, out on Xbox 360 in February 2014.
Crytek's latest "sets the bar for next-generation graphics on consoles".
I grew up near York, would you believe. Here are some things you probably won't find there, now that we've put the Roman Era thoroughly behind us: an inner city composed of enormous marble temples; a public access sewage system; armies of yowling, gore-crusted barbarians, waggling clubs at each other. Well, not unless there's a mock battle on. Say hello to another set of Ryse: Son of Rome videos, which offer whistle-stop tours of the game's York and Rome levels and a "haunted" swampland environment.
Dreamy 1920s-set platform puzzler is out on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow.
Familiar with Contrast from Compulsion Games and Focus Home Interactive? You might recall it from my list of the nine most promising XBLA titles nobody's talking about, published in August. We haven't done a whole lot of talking about Contrast since then, it must be admitted, but all that changes today with the arrival of the launch trailer, below.
Producer needed to "to drive the future of gaming".
Microsoft Studios appears to have another bun in the oven, as per a vacancy for a Technical Producer spotted by Dualshockers. The publisher is in the market for a free-to-play expert to work on a new first party free-to-play game, seemingly for Xbox.
"When people think it's about easy-vs-hard they're barking up the wrong tree.".
Yesterday, I wrote about why Forza Motorsport 5 isn't the Xbox One racer for me, because I'm so very awful at racing sims. That was before I read the below thoughts from Turn 10's creative director Dan Greenawalt, who feels that thinking about Forza 5 in terms of "easy versus hard" is missing the point a little.
"People are afraid to talk in games because they're going to get yelled at by some 12-year-old kid.".
There's no sense of fellowship in online gaming anymore, according to Ubisoft Massive's Ryan Barnard - everybody's too worried about juvenile trolls, and developers and publishers are so willing to give up a game's secrets that players don't need to ask each other for help. Barnard plans to change all that with Tom Clancy's The Division, a post-apocalyptic survival sim for current gen, next gen and PC.
Richard Hammond and James May talk over some terribly shiny motors.
"Comic Mischief"? What's "Comic Mischief" doing in my Forza Motorsport 5? There's nothing "Comic" about "Mischief", Turn 10, as Daffy Duck could tell you. Still, I suppose exceptions must be made for the cast of Top Gear, who lend their voices to the latest pair of Forza 5 trailers.
"This is just the first of many new content updates we're working on for Grand Theft Auto Online.".
Morning all. Here are a few bits we missed from yesterday's Rockstar NewsWire update about GTA 5's Beach Bum pack - story mode DLC! Co-op heists! "GTA Online's take on Capture the Flag"! You can expect "new info on all of this very soon", plus first intel on the game's promised Content Creator, which will allow players to set up their own mission types.
Loads of new mission types, outfits, weapons and vehicles.
Rockstar has whisked the wrappers off Grand Theft Auto 5's first proper DLC pack, the free Beach Bum pack, which launches Tuesday 19th November as part of the game's 1.06 title update. You can expect a brace of new mission types for GTA Online, a shipment of new outfits, and new weapons and vehicles that are accessible in both single player and multiplayer.
"You may unable to play online or may get dropped from multiplayer matches.".
Somebody at EA appears to have spilled his or her coffee over something Important. I imagine that something to be a glowing cyborg head, hooked up to an enormous bank of supercomputers. The publisher has just announced via its Support page that the "systems that handle online gameplay, matchmaking, and login are offline for all of our titles". Yes, all of them. Got to be a first, surely?
100 winners will have their submissions added to official roster.

Senior producer discusses frame rate, resolution and "evocative" sunrises.
Need for Speed: Rivals developer Ghost Games hasn't struggled to get any particular tricks of technology working on next generation consoles, according to senior producer Jamie Keen - thanks to both the bump in hardware horsepower and the user-friendliness of DICE's all-purpose Frostbite 3 engine, the studio feels it has put together an "unrivalled game experience". Did you see what they did there, and so forth.
Over 10,000 stores in 13 countries expected to open their doors at midnight.
My my, this is exciting. With nine days to go, we are well and truly in the current gen end times, and over on Xbox Wire, Microsoft has begun detailing its plans for worldwide launch events, which will kick off in just over a week's time in major cities across the globe.
"We've never seen AI do that in a game. Never.".
Forza 5's Drivatar AI racers will pick up on pretty much every nuance of your racing style, according to Turn 10 creative director, including such classic human errors as attempting to take a corner side by side with other racers. They won't, however, imitate trolls or copy attempts to "break" the system.
Ubisoft brings the Montpellier team's masterpiece to next gen.
Not got to grips with the latest Rayman yet? You may want to hold off if you've got an Xbox One on pre-order. The next generation version of Rayman Legends will launch in February, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot told investors during an earnings call last night.

DICE will release a new multiplayer update for Battlefield 4 on Xbox 360 and The Other One today, during a maintenance period was supposed to begin at 9am UK time this morning (1am PST). If you can't get online with the game right now, this is why. Take a knee.
Latest Traveller's Tales effort will miss console launch.
Sad news, cuboid crime-fighters and super-mutants of the symmetrical persuasion. The Xbox One version of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes has been delayed, meaning it won't release in time for the console's launch. Warner Bros has yet to give a reason for this, or a replacement date.
Explore Sauron's kingdom before the fall.
A new Lord of the Rings game? Well that makes for a pleasant end to the day. Warner Bros has announced Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, a third-person action game for Xbox 360, Xbox One and those other platforms we don't like to discuss, developed by Monolith of Condemned: Criminal Origins and F.E.A.R. infamy.
