Side-by-side games and entertainment on the new console.
Microsoft has released a couple of new Xbox One interface videos. The first demonstrates the console's Snap feature, with commentary from Yusuf Mehdi, chief marketing and strategy officer. The second is about personalising the dashboard. This may be the least over-the-top article intro I've ever written. Sorry?
Swamp, Battery, Red River, Rumble, Gaza, Dome and Boneyard.
Downloadable content for Call of Duty: Ghosts? Reader, I'm as shocked and titillated as you are. Infinity Ward appears to have let slip the names of seven forthcoming DLC maps, via Reddit and as reported by CVG. One of the maps, Dome, may be a remake of a map from Modern Warfare 3.
Activision's other blockbuster console franchise outclasses Call of Duty on clarity of visuals.
This is your daily PSA-style broadcast to remind you that the Xbox One is, indeed, capable of native 1080p visuals, whatever you may have read to the contrary. The latest illustration of this is Skylanders: Swap Force, the latest instalment of Vicarious Visions' wildly successful blend of toy collecting and action-platforming.
But Dan Greenawalt doesn't want to "downplay" financial concerns.
Forza Motorsport 5 will launch with over 200 cars. That's a sizeable assortment of motors, but it's a bit of a step down from Forza Motorsport 4, which shipped with something in the region of 500. Hence the fiery reaction to the announcement of a Season Pass, which includes access to six monthly 10-car DLC packs, the first of which (a Ferrari LaFerrari special) launches alongside the main game.
Plus a bunch of DmC DLC and Resident Evil 4 HD.
This week's Deal of the Week is Capcom-tastic, though not necessarily fantastic. At the quality end of the scale, you've got Ninja Theory's fabulous DmC: Devil May Cry and assorted DLC packs, time-worn classic Resident Evil 4 HD and decent 3DS hand-me-down Resident Evil: Revelations. At the other end, there's Lost Planet 3. Shudder.
Free app to launch alongside console.
BRACE FOR... probably not the most exciting bit of Xbox One functionality you'll read about between now and 22nd November. Microsoft has released a mostly unedited video demonstration of the console's SkyDrive app, which allows you to view and share videos and photos using Kinect commands.
NBA 2K14 is the biggest launch game.
Here's another heads-up from Moonlightswami, the jammy devil who took possession of an actual, physically manifest Xbox One last Friday - a list of file sizes for almost the entire Xbox One launch game line-up, collated by NeoGAF. The largest? NBA 2K14, a game stuffed with high resolution basketball players. The smallest, not including Xbox Fitness? Frontier's Zoo Tycoon, a delightfully furry management sim. The sum of all files? 341GB.
But has ideas for games that aren't based around motion sensitivity.
Rare has plenty of ideas for games that don't rely on Kinect, some of them possibly derived from its own back catalogue, but Kinect Sports Rivals executive producer Danny Isaac says that the studio will remain "closely linked to that technology" for the foreseeable future.
Microsoft partnership has been "beautiful", says producer.
Capcom Vancouver began developing Xbox One launch exclusive Dead Rising 3 with Xbox 360 in mind, producer Mike Jones has told OXM, but was simply unable to get early prototypes running on the older hardware.
Broadcaster assures that its TV streaming service will go next gen.
Many Xbox 360 owners have been troubled by the absence of the BBC's iPlayer from Xbox One's line-up of launch wave apps. Fear not, connoisseurs of non-interactive entertainment - the Beeb promises that it'll jump aboard the next generation bandwagon at some point.
Value, Movie, Premium and Epic packs available to pre-order customers.
The folks over at Videogamer have gotten a hold of GAME's Xbox One console bundle details and pricing just a few weeks ahead of its global launch on 22nd November. These bundles will apparently be offered to customers who have pre-ordered their console, but it's believed that there will be additional stock set aside for people to simply walk in and buy on launch day.
Problems with Call of Duty: Ghosts offline play related to pre-release code, says Penello.
Happy Monday all - here's a nice hot helping of next gen controversy to get the old motor running. Microsoft's product planning director Albert Penello has sallied unto NeoGAF to shoot down a rumour that Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox One can't be played offline, as reported by Twitter user Moonlightswami.
"This may be the funniest game we've ever made".
Twisted Pixel is a studio well known for its sense of humour - the collective's previous XBLA titles certainly haven't been lacking in that department. This week, the developers have announced that their upcoming Xbox One debut LocoCycle will feature live-action cutscenes, with a few fairly well known names in the cast.
We ain't afraid of no links.
There's nothing quite like reminding yourself of the fleeting nature of time like noticing this week's link round up has a Christmas themed one in there. Though in fairness, now the nights are drawing in and the freezing weather we've had lately, if you didn't realise it we're at the back end of the year you must have never ventured outside because you're too busy trying to prestige on Call of Duty or some... ah, wait a sec.
Getting through Los Perdidos won't be plane sailing.
For me personally, Dead Rising 3 looks to be the pick of the Xbox One launch titles. A massive open world, plenty of undead fodder and so many different weapons with which to take them out? Yeah, that's pretty good. Throw in suits of armour and robotic cats and now you have my undivided attention.
Improvements to the game afforded by the Ignite engine in the Xbox One version.
They think it's all over... but it's not. FIFA 14 is, understandably, quite the juggernaut so it's natural EA want to remind everyone that it's still to appear as another launch title for the Xbox One, so it's time for another trailer.
Full version of 1.2 update arriving "early next year".
Terraria on XBLA is still going strong - despite the overhanging shadow from the juggernaut that is Minecraft, it seems to have proven that it's different enough to enjoy success all of it's own and remaining in the top XBLA titles purchased as recently as a couple of weeks ago.
"We wanted to build a real character with emotions and contradictions".
Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 might still be lurking a little further into the darkness than most fans would like, but Komani is attempting to quench our bloodlust by releasing the first of what will be several developer diaries from the team at Mercurysteam on creating the game.
Lucky users reveal new information on game sizes and more.
Uh oh, looks like someone's going to be in hot water. Reports have come in of a couple of fortunate folk in the US getting their brand shiny new Xbox One consoles shipped to them early, despite the official November 22nd release date still a couple of weeks away.
See the fighters within Fighter Within.
Ubisoft is gearing up to have us kicking and punching our way around the living room in the Kinect-centric Fighter Within -a brawler for Xbox One that seems to have gone somewhat low-key compared to the other heavy hitters (pun not intended) of the launch line-up.
