Ubisoft explores the game's side activities.
I wasn't bothered about Assassin's Creed: Unity's apparent want of Kinect voice commands before, but as of right now I absolutely insist that Ubisoft build some in. Why? Because I want to scream "JE T'ACCUSE" like Jean-Baptiste Louvet challenging Robespierre while playing the game's criminal investigation missions, in which you'll be asked to hunt down murderers on behalf of the Parisian authorities.
Pre-order for a million GTA dollar pay-out.
Got your calendar and a big red marker handy? Because Rockstar has finally confirmed the release date for Grand Theft Auto 5 on Xbox One - 18th November 2014.
"Under the hood, this is still Fable.".
Like a delicious candy apple covered in angry bees, Fable Legends continues to tantalise and deter me. I love the game's collectable figurine-style Hero models and general technical finish, and I've had a blast with the asymmetrical co-op, in which squads of do-gooders push through levels while a Villain arranges enemies and hazards. Still, as I wrote not so long ago, I'd love to play another Fable game that's purely single player, and purely about story.
DICE tires of the present day, takes a leaf from Advanced Warfare's book.
So today's mild-to-moderate shocker is that Battlefield 4's Final Stand DLC is science fiction-themed. I can think of several reasons for this. One is that DICE is now making a Star Wars: Battlefront game, and is using Battlefield 4 as a testbed for some high falutin' weapons technology. Another is that this is a belated hat tip to people who won't shut up about a sequel to Battlefield 2142.
All in-game footage, don't you know.
Admit it, you'd forgotten all about Forza Horizon 2 amid all the uproar over Destiny, hadn't you? Scroll down without further ado to the launch trailer, in which disturbingly sexy cars rub their tyres against glorious, Xbox One-powered scenery. The dance soundtrack certainly makes a change from Destiny's main theme, which appears to have become my brain's loading music.
But is it machine-washable?.
Hello all! After a thrilling morning of site outages, it's my pleasure to deliver the day's first news update. Step forward, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. You're looking lovely today, Mr Warfare - sorry, may I call you Advanced? That's a wonderful shade of Kevlar mesh you're wearing, and those jumpjets really bring out the colour of your eyes.
Two's company, three's a murder spree, four's a cr- [muffled dying scream].
Attention, my fellow Templars - I believe I have come up with an utterly uncrackable way to stop those pesky Assassins nicking your valuables. Step one is to fill any haystacks in the vicinity with snakes and whoopee cushions. Then, carefully balance large buckets of fluorescent paint over the doors and cover the walls with glue.
A boxed version will follow after all 4 episodes launch.
New details on Resident Evil: Revelations 2 have emerged following its official announcement last week. And what do you know, just like we guessed at the time, the game will star Chris' sister Claire Redfield in her first major role for the series since Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Cue fangirl squeeing.
Nothing to announce just yet, though.
Another Wolfenstein game? New Order developer MachineGames is up for it if you are. Or rather, if license holder Bethesda is. Speaking to OXM at Gamescom last month, studio co-founder Jens Matthies expressed enthusiasm for a sequel but cautioned that nothing has been agreed on for the moment.
Publisher claims the open-world shooter is most successful new IP launch ever.
Activision has announced that it's sold more than $500 million worth of Destiny to retail stores and first party companies - and the game's only been out for two days. Since $500 million is reportedly how much the game cost its publisher to make, that's got to be music to the ears of the game's money men, who I imagine are diving delightedly - Scrooge McDuck style - into piles of cash right now.
"That seemed to make the most sense in how we progressed with the online".
Can Dead Island still be called Dead Island if it isn't set on an island any more? Seems like a liberal use of poetic license if you ask me, but at least new development studio Yager is taking the Dead part in the title to heart.
Studio founder Notch to depart as part of $2 billion acquisition, according to multiple sources.
Microsoft is in talks to acquire Minecraft studio Mojang AB for $2 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg. The latter claims that the buy-out was initiated by Markus "Notch" Persson, who will leave the company once the deal is completed - possibly as early as this week.

In the grand pantheon of human evils, owning an Xbox One that's a mite too loud probably doesn't rank very high, but it is at least a problem you can fix. Microsoft has told Kotaku that it will replace untowardly noisy specimens free of charge, following complaints about this on official forums.
Featuring new gameplay, weapons, outfits and more.
Microsoft and Insomniac Games have just announced a Season Pass for upcoming open-world shooter Sunset Overdrive. The Season Pass will include the first three major add-ons for the game, as well as six exclusive character outfits, two Amps and two Traps, which will become available to Season Pass holders as soon as the game is released.
Xbox One version unaffected, still launching 3rd October in the UK.
Warner Bros. has just announced that the Xbox 360 edition of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor has been pushed back by a couple of months. It'll now launch on the 18th November in the US and the 21st November in the UK.
Head to Pandora for less than a fiver.
I was late to the party with Borderlands, so I certainly can't judge anyone who hasn't had the pleasure yet. But, if you were looking for an opportune moment to get stuck into Pandora for the first time, now would certainly be it - as both Borderlands and Borderlands 2 are currently less than a fiver as part of this week's Deals with Gold.
It's coming to Xbox 360 later on down the line.
If you're a football fan and you've got 3.07GB going spare on your Xbox One, you might fancy heading over to the Xbox Store right now, where you can download the FIFA 15 demo for free.
"We're just getting started".
Ed's got the wide-eyed look of someone who stayed up until 4am playing Destiny. I keep trying to make conversation with him, but he just mutters something about having to go see a vendor and then shoves a bunch of small change into a bemused Jonty's hand. I think an intervention may have to happen by lunchtime.
Rolling out to Xbox One preview program members from today.
Microsoft has announced the latest update preview over on Major Nelson's blog. It mostly focuses on little tweaks and fixes here and there, but the biggest changes focus on the Xbox One's Snap function, and improvements to the console's TV and video features.
Prepare to save Gotham for the third and final time on 2nd June.
I'm torn. On one hand, the release date for Batman: Arkham Knight has finally been announced, and that makes me happy. On the other, it's 2nd June 2015, and that's miles off. Still though, at least we finally have a firm date to count towards on our Bat-calendars. Just me?
