"This year is still fine for the PS3 and 360", comments CEO.
Ubisoft intends to wind down support for Xbox 360 and PS3 from 2015, according to CEO Yves Guillemot, as the new consoles are now selling in sufficient quantities to justify Xbox One and PS4-only games.
Invites you to "become part of the montage".
Get ready to earn your wings in GTA 5. Starting from today you can join the most patriotic institution this side of the Top Gun academy in GTA Online Flight School with a stack of new vehicles and challenges both in the air and on the ground.
But will it be in a better state than on PS4?.
The previously PC and PS4-exclusive Warfarme, a free-to-play shooter with mech suits, will launch on Xbox One on 2nd September, as revealed in a lengthy Gamescom video passed on by Xbox Achievements.
But "we're really happy with what we're looking at".
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will run at 60 frames a second, producer Mike Mejia has assured OXM, but the game's final resolution has yet to be locked down. Sledgehammer is, however, "happy" with how things stand at the time of writing, and hopes to "optimise" things before handing the game over to retailers in November.
Horrendous P.T. demo leads to intriguing revelations.
Teeth gritted hard enough to reduce them to a sort of viscous paste, we'll admit that P.T. - the playable teaser for Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro's new Silent Hill game, released on PS4 during Gamescom - was probably the most intriguing part of the conference.
Extended activity feed! Mobile purchases! Battery alerts! The future!.
Writing up these update announcement stories is a little like watching some smiling diplomat presenting an emergency press conference about an upcoming war as high-calibre shells whizz over his head - you already know what's happening, I'm just here to confirm that it's definitely taking place. Hello!
Classic stuff.
Powerful. Smooth. Classy. We could be talking about the machines in this trailer or the backing track. Project CARS is being made by Slightly Mad Studios, the same team that brought you Need For Speed: Shift and Shift 2: Unleashed, and is the UK studio's crowd funded racer. It's on its way to Xbox One, and here's a trailer showing off some superb visuals.
Why is Notre Dame full of haystacks?.
Assassin's Creed has always walked a well-placed washing line between historical realism and pure video game fantasy. Unity, whose revolutionary Paris Ubisoft claims is their most accurate recreation yet, doesn't seem to so much tip the balance as just make both sides far more noticeable, like replacing two children on a seesaw with a professional wrestling tag-team after a heavy meal. At least, that's the way it looks to us in this new gameplay demo.
"I'm assuming that we will be able to get the very best out of the Xbox One.".
Tom Clancy's The Division will perform and play beautifully on Xbox One, producer Fredrik Rundqvist has assured OXM, thanks in part to an "almost integral" partnership with Microsoft.
"Right now Unity is our game for new generation consoles.".
An Xbox One version of Assassin's Creed: Rogue isn't entirely out of the question, if comments from Ubisoft Sofia producer Ivan Balabanov are anything to go by. Assassin's Creed: Unity is very much Ubisoft's focus for new generation hardware at the time of writing, however.
"If we think it fits the gameplay or the brand, we're willing to take those risks".
Assassin's Creed: Unity is the latest game to let you "fast track" an unlocks system by spending real money, Ubisoft has revealed at Gamescom 2014. Speaking to OXM after a presentation, senior producer Vincent Pontbriand commented that this is "pretty much" as far as microtransactions go in the game, and assured us that the developer won't adopt such models unless they make sense with the experience.
It's a "testament" to Bungie's talent, says producer.
Combat Evolved might have started the avalanche, but for my money, Halo 3 is the greatest of Bungie's Halo games across Xbox and Xbox 360. Alas, the Master Chief Collection's remaster hasn't gotten much attention to date - 343 has placed the emphasis firmly on Halo 2 Anniversary instead. That changed yesterday when senior producer Dennis Ries treated OXM to a behind-closed-doors screening of an excerpt from Halo 3's campaign.
Only last-gen console to get the MMO racer.
While it was previously, resolutely, next-gen only, The Crew is now coming to Xbox 360 with all the features that its younger but bigger brother has, just with lower graphical fidelity (and fewer peas, we'd imagine).
Pull shapes all over again.
Activison - under the recently reborn Sierra Games label - has unveiled a new Geometry Wars title at Gamescom, Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions. Created by veterans of the originally Xbox Live Arcade-exclusive franchise at Lucid Games, Dimensions will release on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and introduces 3D wraparound maps plus new co-operative and competitive multiplayer features.
Ultra Edition costs $US39.99, or individual fighters are US$4.99 each.
Fans of werewolves battling warrior monks should take note. Iron Galaxy's launch-title beat-'em-up Killer Instinct is being updated with a new bunch of fighters and, if you stump up enough cash, Killer Instinct 2 Classic.
Media streaming solutions and new Friends section coming by the end of the year.
Here's a piece of news that also snuck out of Gamescom: your Xbox One will be able to stream movie and music files via DLNA, and USB support will also be implemented to play your media directly through the console.
Watch it again (and again and again and again (because time travel)).
Remedy made Max Payne. You can tell because Quantum Break - at least according to this new gameplay trailer - looks like someone took Max Payne, gave him more superpowers and made him look a little less like he was constantly trying to digest a full set of boules.
Out spring 2015, looks demented.
Microsoft has announced Screamride, a new Xbox One exclusive from Frontier Developments. It's a futuristic theme park sim in which the idea is basically to murder people and destroy everything. Not quite the usual Frontier brand of cuddly casual experience, then.
Shock announcement at Gamescom 2014.
Stone the crows! Microsoft and Square Enix have just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider is now exclusive to Xbox One.
