Unlockable moves and new control scheme introduced.
The unthinkable has happened. Ubisoft has changed Assassin's Creed's long-extant parkour systems for Assassin's Creed: Unity, reconfiguring the control scheme while introducing a selection of unlockable abilities.
Kamiya is "kind of busy on Scalebound" right now, though.
Is there anything in life that can't be solved by pointing Platinum Games at it? Probably lots of things - neither Revengeance nor Anarchy Reigns qualify as all-time classics, and the Osaka-based developer has yet to produce a seriously big seller on Xbox. Still, I'll admit to being tantalised by the thought of a Kameo reboot with Hideki Kamiya at the helm.
You can play the missions in any order.
Rainbow Six: Siege is shaping up to be a multiplayer thrill-fest, an online excitement-circus, a co-op-carniv - OK, enough of that nonsense. But what if you don't like it when people spill multiplayer all over your tactical wall-bursting? What if, as with Ryan, all your Xbox Live friends are rubbish? Be of good cheer, it appears that there's a single player mode too.
"There's always opportunities.".
The good news: FromSoftware game producer Atsuo Yoshimura has speculated that there's 'potential' for the punishing RPG Dark Souls 2 to be ported to new-gen. Great! The bad news: the team are currently too busy to really consider it. Nuts.
It'll be different to the PS4 version, though.
If you're feeling left out of the current Battlefield Hardline beta, don't be: there'll be a version coming to Xbox ahead of the game's arrival in stores, containing content that's different from the one currently being played on PC and PS4.
"Our focus is on you," says Microsoft.
Microsoft has released details of Xbox One's next update, which rolls out to previewers "in the next few days". Among other improvements and new features, the console's July OS overhaul introduces Snap support for achievement progress, so you can brood over your Gamerscore without breaking the flow of a game.
"At least we haven't figured out how and we're not trying to.".
Speaking to Gamespot, Ubisoft marketing executive Tony Key has hinted that a new Assassin's Creed title is on its way to Xbox 360. When asked about the project, rumoured to be code-named "Assassin's Creed Comet", Key noted that "there's plenty of current-gen Assassin's Creed fans out there", adding that "we hope to be able to talk to them about that soon."
"People came away with stories that were so alien to what the game was about.".
I wouldn't like to be the person in charge of Alien Isolation's marketing. Not because Alien Isolation looks less than brilliant at present, but because there's so much bad blood to dispel after Alien: Colonial Marines, and so much intricacy to explain without ruining the new game's mystique. "Don't show, don't tell" is, after all, one of the horror genre's most basic rules of thumb.
Just about every game mode detailed.
Bungie has released a detailed walkthrough video for its upcoming shooter, Destiny, in which co-founder Jason Jones talks us through a plethora of in-game content, ranging from character customisation to the Crucible, the game's competitive multiplayer mode.
But "we don't want to split our community".
Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox One could yet happen, Square Enix's producer and director Naoki Yoshida has revealed, providing Microsoft allows Xbox Livers to rub shoulders with the Hated Enemy, aka people on PlayStation Network and PC.
New Adaptive Mission Mechanic makes for fewer restarts.
Mission restarts in Assassin's Creed? They're a thing of the past. Rhetorically, I mean. Obviously most things in Assassin's Creed games are "things of the past" - the game's Animus tech allows players to explore famous period settings, such as (in Unity's case) Paris during the French Revolution. Ack, I've messed up this intro, haven't I. Let's start from scratch. Starting from scratch? You won't have to do any of that in Assassin's Creed: Unity. Look, just move onto the next paragraph already.
No Xbox One version of The Witcher 2, then.
While HD remakes and cross-gen titles are all the rage - see Halo: The Master Chief Collection and GTA 5 - CD Project Red are firmly entrenched in making games for Xbox One and the new gen: don't expect an Xbox One version of The Witcher 2: Assassination of Kings.
The Tomb Raider teams up with Egyptian gods and rivals.
Remember in March last year, when Tomb Raider's creative director Noah Hughes told me that there were "no plans" to create a sequel to Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light? Well it turns out he was lying. Or that the idea was greenlighted after our conversation. Either way, you should let bygones be bygones and check out the first gameplay trailer for Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, which is coming to Xbox One "soon".
You show that bear who's boss, Lara.
I've got a couple of Tomb Raider stories in the works. To begin with, here are the first three artworks for Rise of the Tomb Raider, a sequel to 2013's origin story, in which the still rather traumatised Lara Croft must explore a Lost City and contend with a mysterious group of assassins. Oh, and at least one bear. Hey, it's better than fighting a T-Rex, right?
"I just don't want us to get to, like, Halo 17.".
Wondering why Halo 5 is called Halo 5: Guardians? It's because 343 Industries is trying to move away from numbering the games, according to studio head Bonnie Ross, something that she'd have liked to have done with the studio's debut title Halo 4.
Two new modes, new Titan Burn Cards and more.
E3 might be the busiest week on the industry calendar, but that hasn't stopped Respawn putting together another Titanfall Xbox One update. Two new modes are on show at the event, and you'll be able to download them - for free - this month.
"We want to be online, we want to create a community".
Looking forward to Rainbow Six: Siege, this year's big reveal from Ubisoft? You might be able to play it sooner than you think, as developer Ubisoft Montreal carefully avoided talking about beta access in an E3 interview.
Prove us wrong, Kim Jong-un.
Imagine you're Prophet from Crysis, only with a homely mobile phone instead of a helmet HUD, a remote control car in place of a cloaking device, and the inability to kick cars off cliffs in place of the ability to kick cars off cliffs. Got the image in your head? Great, now you don't need to watch this nine minute Homefront: The Revolution demo, which shows just how much chaos a player might inflict on the game's open world Philadelphia.
BioWare gets to grips with an alpha build, talks about spells and stuff.
Let's take a little break from all the Halo nooz to discuss Dragon Age: Inquisition, in which there are Dragons and Inquisitions of all Ages. BioWare has just screened 10 minutes of the game via Twitch - an excerpt is below, care of CommunityNetworkTV. Among other things, we hear about game's spells and talents - there are hundreds - and romance options.
343 to restore a "level playing field" between combatants.
Were/are you keen on Halo 4's Armor Abilities? Comprising a range of active and passive buffs such as the ability to see through walls or conjure a shield, they're among the things that most obviously set the game apart from predecessors. Many fans weren't amused, styling this the "Call of Dutification" of Halo. Good news, detractors - according to 343's design director Bradford Welch, there's none of that sort of thing in Halo 5: Guardians for Xbox One.
