"Source" pops the cork on another Xbox exclusive.
The nigh-mythical Crackdown 3 will be announced at tonight's Xbox E3 press event, according to a Develop source. Rumour has it that the game will be a "game" of some description, which can run on hardware that plays games, such as either the Xbox One or the Xbox 360 or both or neither. Sorry, there's not much to add at this stage.
Unlocking reserve power doesn't require you to unplug Kinect, reiterates Phil Spencer.
Microsoft's decision to "unlock" Xbox One system resources formerly set aside for Kinect is already paying dividends - according to Head of Xbox Phil Spencer, Bungie will use the additional power to raise Destiny's resolution on Xbox One, while Insomniac Games plans to make the world of Sunset Overdrive more "vibrant and alive".
EA invites fans to take a running jump.
Good news, everyone! Last year's Mirror's Edge 2 announcement wasn't just some colossal EA prank but the stuff of purest truth, as this teaser image (via Facebook) makes plain. Are you ready for a pun about "keeping the faith" yet? Are you?
"I'm nucleeeeeeear".
Last week, Hideo Kojima was guffawing merrily over a video of Big Boss fannying about in a box. This week, he has (as the video proudly states) directed and edited one of the most relentlessly depressing trailers in recent memory.
Out on 22nd July for #163;50, €70 or $60.
Microsoft has announced the Forza Motosport 5: Game of the Year edition, an expanded version of the Xbox One launch game that includes 18 additional tracks and all 10 vehicles from the Top Gear Car Pack. It'll release on 22nd July worldwide, a few months ahead of the recently unveiled Forza Horizon 2.
It's all about tiered playgrounds.
Refreshing idea #1653: In Sunset Overdrive, car roofs are bouncy enough to launch you over a building. The latest Insomniac talkthrough explores this and other aspects of the Xbox One exclusive's world, which is designed to make you feel like a backalley ninja straight off the (baseball) bat without watering things down for the pros. In short: if you like a challenge, go up.
"We always have some other stuff simmering.".
A Battlefield spin-off and an untitled Star Wars game just aren't enough work for Visceral, creator of the Dead Space series. Posting on NeoGAF, art director Ian Milham has confirmed that the developer has a new IP on the boil, though it sounds like the project hasn't got properly underway for the moment.
4J lets the square-headed cat out of the blocky bag.
With Minecraft's Xbox One debut just around the corner in August, it seems only right that we get the chance to freak out over new-gen Creepers at E3. Going by console porters 4J Studios' tweets today, we'll be doing just that.
"All your dreams are made, when you kill robots with a big grenade".
Beyond: Flesh and Blood imagines the terrifying alternate future that would have manifested had Liverpool won the Premier League title this year. At least, that's what I'm assuming, going by developer Pixelbomb's ruined, blood-strewn version of Albert Square. Either way, it's a frantic mech (well, mech-ish - they're referred to as "Combat Frames") game in which you shoot other well-armed bipedal machines until they explode. Here's a trailer:
It's out in October.
There's something about the current fad for trailers that match music beats with action from the game/film/Lurpak advert. I'm not sure if it's the feeling that it's all a little manufactured, or sympathy pains for the beleaguered video editor who had to splice it all together but these things makes me uncomfortable. It's personally quite a relief, then, that the bombastic new Battlefield: Hardline trailer fades to a comfortable, silent black to announce its (currently US-only) release date.
Meanwhile, the special edition of the game has a statue of Geralt slaying a griffin.
CD Projekt Red's upcoming new-gen only RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt shows off its graphical muscle in this gameplay trailer, while tempting you into spending your hard-earned on a hand-painted statue of Geralt of Rivia slaying a mythical creature.
More and more hints that the dog will die.
The devs working on Ubisoft's upcoming side scrolling adventure game calmly sit down and explain what Valiant Hearts is all about. 'Emotion' seems to be at the top of their list for this game which is about war rather than being a war game.
"Good night. Good luck.".
"I'm not a murderer," says the blood-caked, machete-wielding maniac in this all new trailer for Techland's follow up to open-world zombie-fest Dead Island. Just as well he cleared that one up, eh?
Livestream shows Snake boxing clever.
Metal Gear Solid's cardboard box is a more popular character than, say, Raiden. That's pretty obvious by this point. You could even claim that, on time spent onscreen alone, it's Metal Gear's main character, given that Snake ran off for most of Sons of Liberty. It makes sense, then, that Hideo Kojima's latest livestream was dedicated entirely to showing off his corrugated champion.
And yes, the next State of Decay will definitely have multiplayer.
Undead Labs won't be at E3 this year, which is bad news if you're holding out for a State of Decay title on Xbox One. The studio's current project isn't fit for public consumption just yet.
Release date confirmed - brace for frown failure.
I've had my ups and downs with Borderlands - I don't have enough magpie DNA to really fall in love with the looting aspect - but at the very, very least, the series always gives good trailer. The below, seismic video for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel should knock your brain clean out your ear and into a cocked hat.
Plus, "nearly half a dozen new games".
EA will hit E3 with everything it has, seemingly. Alongside an update on the next Mirror's Edge title, it will also unveil a new game from Burnout developer Criterion - one of several unannounced games scheduled to premiere at the event. Aren't we lucky!
Project involves an external partner.
Has the "games as a service" concept become the norm, yet? Are we at the point where features like micro-transactions, persistent online features and monthly content updates (aka "seasons") are so ubiquitous that it's more true, perhaps, to speak of "services as a game"? Perhaps you should discuss that after reading about Microsoft's latest project, given away by a job listing passed on by Dualshockers.
Boost is down to the removal of mandatory Kinect.
Xbox One dev kits will receive a 10% boost in GPU bandwidth this month following a software update, Microsoft has revealed.
"But it would have meant a lot more work and a lot more difficulty.".
Homefront: The Revolution is that rarest of jewels, a next-gen-only game. Current-gen-only, rather. That's not because it would have been impossible to realise on Xbox 360, however - according to game designer Fasahat Salim, Crytek made the call in order to raise the quality of the Xbox One, PS4 and PC versions while decreasing development time.
