It takes place in Europe, not the Deep South. Egad!.
Did somebody kick off E3 2014 early? Looks like it. Microsoft has announced the long-predicted Forza Horizon 2, which will launch in late 2014 for Xbox One and Xbox 360. It's the work, once again, of Playground Games, and includes a new version of Forza 5's Drivatar system and dynamic weather.
Kaos Studios' troubled shooter franchise is reborn on Crytek's watch.
Crytek has reannounced Homefront 2 as Homefront: The Revolution - and taken a dramatic step away from the original Homefront, with a brand new open world format and gadget-driven choices that call to mind Fallout and the Batman titles. It's down for release on Xbox One in 2015.
A little update from Microsoft Grand Marshall Phil of Spencer.
Here's a picture of Phil Spencer, Microsoft's Head of Xbox. Notice anything? A slight creasing of the temples, a whitening of the lips? These are the hallmarks of a man who Knows Things.
New Tomb Raider and what else? Place your bets now.
We know Crystal Dynamics is right now working on a sequel to 2013's Tomb Raider reboot, but what else has the studio been keeping a secret? The Linkedin profile of one employee suggests that there's more than one as yet unannounced project just over the horizon.
If in Redoubt, check it out.
Dear me but Dragon Age: Inquisition is looking pretty. And it knows it too, the tease, as it can't go five minutes without showing us all a bit of screenshot. If it were possible to romance the environments instead of companions - well I just might be tempted.
Runs on Unreal Engine 4, coming to "next-gen Consoles".
A video of an unannounced Ninja Theory project for "next gen consoles" has appeared online, care of an artist's portfolio spotted by Superannuation. A Dualshockers reader has preserved a copy of it for posterity. What do you think? Looks... gothic.
Now the 17th biggest game launch in UK history.
As previously hinted at by Ubisoft, Watch Dogs has hacked its way to the top of the UK all format games sales charts this week, and managed to earn itself biggest launch week of any new IP in the UK, easily beating the previous record holder LA Noire by more than half its total sales.
Mysterious bloke hints at sly chemical bromance.
Hark, a new pre-order deal has been spotted for (one of) this year's Assassin's Creed, titled 'Chemical Revolution'. Not that the fact of a pre-order should surprise you, but the poster advertising the deal shows off the new Assassin's face.
Say hello to Inga - she loves beating bullies, hates the colour pink and will wrestle you into oblivion.
The third Hero in Lionhead Studios' upcoming role-playing title Fable Legends has been revealed, and she sounds like the type of character that you'd describe as a bruiser - you definitely want her on your side in a scrap.
Crytek kicks off a belated Easter egg hunt.
You'd forgotten all about Ryse, hadn't you? Fool! One should never turn his or her back on a Roman Legion, even if said Roman Legion is a pilum or two short of a timeless classic. The game's Morituri DLC pack launches today with five new maps - three for Gladiator Mode, two for Survival - and some new character armour. It'll cost $7.99, with prices for other regions to be revealed shortly.
No online play for the moment though.
FIFA 14 Ultimate Team's World Cup update is yours to download on Xbox One and Xbox 360 following a delay. It allows fans of the franchise's obscenely successful spin-off card game to lead their very own World Cup side to victory.
Teddy bear bombs and razor-edged LPs. Together, what wonderful music they make.
You wait all morning for a Sunset Overdrive news story, and then three show up at once! Well, actually it's two, but I was trying to reference the proverb about buses. Who knows, perhaps Insomniac will put up a spicy Q&A in a few minutes time? And why are you reading this, when you could be watching a hipster shoot record discs at ugly orange people?
Which actually tells you quite a lot about the Xbox One exclusive.
Freelance artist Vasili Zorin has posted a rather attractive concept piece for Sunset Overdrive, Insomniac's Xbox One-exclusive third-person open world action game. It conveniently summarises the game's core elements: mutants born of a toxic softdrink, excessive parkour, and fashionably-clad maniacs holding deadly weapons.
People "need to be able to rely on us to not suck.".
Sometimes, when you add things together you get more than the sum of their parts. Sometimes, you get exactly the sum of their parts, and sometimes, you get less. Which will be true of Remedy's Quantum Break, which takes the jam that is television and smears it over the Gorgonzola that is gaming? Naturally, the developer's chief executive Matias Myllyrinne is a-bubble with optimism.
"It seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise.".
Now just hold hard there, pardner. Pull in your horns. Red Dead Redemption 2 sounds like it's a-coming, but assuming this here Strauss Zelnick of Take-Two Interactive isn't spinning us a yarn, it's a fair ways over the horizon.
Viva pin-blaster!.
If you thought that Call of Duty needed more mariachi outfits, ghost pirates (pirate ghosts?) and booby-trapped Egyptian tombs then you are in luck. The latest trailer for the third piece of DLC, Invasion, will satisfy your bizarre itch.
You've got the power. And a katana.
It's likely that you've never heard of Shadow Warrior, a reboot developed by Polish indie Flying Wild Hog, which was unveiled for next gen consoles and PC back in May 2013. Brace thyself, adventurer: you are about to hear of Shadow Warrior.
Soviet Steel update also announced for June release.

"When is really soon? My really soon is later on today".
There are times when I despair at the thought that the next Gears of War won't be hear for yonks. But then, I recollect that Remedy's Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break appears to be Gears of War with time travel, leather jackets and more realistic proportions. There's good news to report on that front - the developer is about to release another video, presumably ahead of a -depth showing at E3 next month.
Leaked not-final art wants to huff and puff and blow your house down.
Telltale Games appears to be working on a boxed Wolf Among Us collection for Xbox One, as per leaked art passed on by Joystiq. Ignore the boxart on the right - it's clearly some kind of printing aberration, or perhaps a mirage generated by intervening clouds of fanboy hostility.
