To quote Coldplay: it's all yellow.
We haven't actually had a solid confirmation of a new Deus Ex stealthing its way onto Xbox One, but we've had the next best thing: a chat with the guys behind the new Dawn Engine which will presumably be used to build the Deus Ex game we aren't entirely sure if we're getting yet. Yeah?
Matchmaking fixes and more, in update due "within the next few days".
343 Industries still haven't fixed Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but at least they're still trying. There's a new patch coming in the next few days, and it's just been detailed over on the Halo Waypoint blog.
First gameplay trailer and Feb release date revealed for timed Xbox One exclusive.
Outlandish gods in games aren't thin on the ground - consider, for example, the Elder God from Legacy of Kain, an upside-down squid who talks like a stoned Latin teacher - but Pneuma's titular deity is a true original: he's an homage to much-missed UK comedian Rik Mayall, aka Lord Flashheart, aka Drop Dead Fred.
But digital copies still releasing on the 27th of January.
If you were hoping to buy Dying Light for a reasonable price later this January, I have some bad news: physical copies of Techland's zombie parkour-'em-up have been delayed for mysterious reasons in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Australia. Basically, everywhere outside North America.
A "swashbuckling space adventure" from former Diablo and Torchlight devs.
There aren't enough space games on consoles, and by that I mean games where you control a spaceship/s rather than some marine with a puny laser pistol. That situation's about to change this year, with the release of Double Damage Games' Rebel Galaxy.
You've got Gold! (GOLD).
The latest in a series of apologies for games being a bit duff is here: anyone who played Halo: Master Chief Collection online on or before December 19 of last year is eligible to receive a whole month of free Xbox Live Gold, the service which grants access to each month's free games, as well as a big lovely pile of other online benefits.
Free-to-play MMO holding closed beta at the start of February.
Dungeons & Dragons themed MMORPG Neverwinter is on its way to Xbox One this year, but before then it must be subjected to rigorous testing. A three-day closed beta is the first of these, taking place from February 5th until the 8th.
You have two weeks to grab Geralt's second witchy adventure for nothing.
If you're looking for a meaty RPG to sink your teeth into this January, then woah, there's loads, but not all of them will be as free as The Witcher 2. The Further Adventures of Moody McStabby-Shanks is free for the next two weeks, providing you have Xbox Live Gold.
Bungie to fight cheese with, er, loot with upcoming update.
Bungie's latest response to the community cheesing part of Destiny - in case the Crota's End raid that was added with Dark Below - is to add a new Hard mode that fights cheese with tougher enemies, while rewarding good behaviour with extra stuff.
Plus eight pages of exclusive access to The Witcher III!.
Blimey, that 2014 was a bit of a stinker, wasn't it? Nevertheless, we've managed to salvage everything that was good from last year and bring it with us on the lifeboat of 2015.
Screenshots coming to Xbox One "early this year".
Oh, dear - slightly bad news for anyone in the States that bought an Xbox One in the past two weeks. The console's been dropped in price again, back to how much it was in the period November 2-January 2. So if you came out of the house in 2015 and decided your New Year's Resolution was to have an Xbox One, well, you might have just paid $50 extra for the privilege.
Mudokon you believe it took so long to get here?.
Meaty puzzle-platformer Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee was recently remade for the Playstation 4, and after around six months it's finally winging its way to Xbox One.
But on the plus side, DmC: Definitive Edition will now release a week earlier.
It's a little known fact that Capcom release schedules operate via a pulley system. As one release moves forward, another moves back - that's just the way it always has been, and always will be. This time, it's Resident Evil: Revelations 2 that's been winched slightly skyward, just as DmC; Definitive Edition touches down a little earlier than expected.
Ahead of new Xbox One version in April.
If you hadn't heard, Dark Souls 2 is getting a do-over on Xbox One in a few months: a sort of 'Game of the Year' edition with all the DLC, remastered assets, a higher multiplayer count and some other, more mysterious enhancements. Ahead of that, The 360 version will receive a free patch containing some of these enhancements - and they've just been made a little less mysterious by Bandai Namco.
Terraria! Never Alone! Street Fighter!.
Friends! Gamers! Countrypeeps! Lend me your Microsoft Points... Oh, those aren't a thing any more? Fine. My point is that there are some new Deals with Gold ready for you to peruse, so tip out the contents of your virtual piggy banks and let's get SPENDIN'.
The one with the hat and the one with the fans return for MKX.
Mortal Kombat X - it's supposed to be pronounced 'ex', like 'EXTREEM' - is bringing gory dismemberment back to the world of side-on fighting games, one severed head or groin punch at a time. The identities of returning fighters have been drip-fed over the course of several trailers, and now, thanks to a new one, we know a couple more. Say hello and aarrrghh please don't kill me to Kung Lao and Kitana.
As Xbox One wins an Emmy. No, really.
The latest Xbox One firmware update has been detailed by Microsoft, and it adds tile transparency, a lot of TV-related stuff, and Game Hubs (pages that collect all your game data into one handy page). But wait, there's more! Xbox One has also won its first Emmy, despite being a console and not a person (or at the very least a sophisticated robot).
Sandbox prison escape game shanking its way to Xbox One in time for Valentine's day. Awww.
The Escapists is a game about busting out of prison, a thing I've wanted in my life since Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, which sadly turned into a stealthy shooter after a few hours. We already knew the promising indie game was coming to Xbox One, but we didn't know WHEN - until now.
Fourth monster named 'Behemoth', probably after the Robot Wars champ.
So far in Evolve, we've played Goliath - big, strong dude, good at punching; Kraken - the space wizard-squid; and Wraith - the lady monster that does stealthy stuff. Now we're getting a better look at the fourth monster - DLC only - that was named 'Behemoth' by fans.
The permadeath co-op time trial mode is available now as DLC.
Far Cry 4 is only about eighty billion hours long if you count all the sidequests, random Karma missions, and hours of fun you can have with the gyrocopter and a grenade launcher, so thank goodness it's received some new DLC. Escape from Durgesh Prison is out today: a new mode that makes some pretty fundamental changes to the game.
