A GDC talk given by an EA DICE animator (via Polygon) has apparently outed the fact that a fancy two-handed ballistic shield is coming to Battlefield 4 as part of the upcoming Dragon's Teeth expansion pack.
Is it the angry chap from 2011, or something completely new?.
Epic Games lead animator Jay Hosfelt has released an artwork for a new unannounced IP at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. It's a shot of a man with a stick, a gun, a cigarette and a big flappy belt. These are interesting times, indeed.
It's got something to do with that mysterious Fortaleza patent, apparently.
Forget the resolutions, hardware warriors! VR is where it's at nowadays, if a report from the Wall Street Journal is to be credited. The paper alleges that Microsoft has a secret virtual reality device in the works, drawing on the testimony of "people familiar with the project".
"Kinect Sports is locked into what Kinect does, that doesn't mean the next game has to be".
As part of my visit to the deepest, darkest reaches of Twycross last week, I spoke to Rare studio head Craig Duncan, and asked whether the company has considered using the tech it's developed for Kinect Sports Rivals for future games.

Mondays are for cherishing a hangover, staring glumly at the schedule and wondering why you decided to become a chartered accountant rather than an astronaut. Cheer up, everybody. If Creative Assembly can put together a game as promising as Alien: Isolation despite relatively little experience with either survival horror, console development or the Alien license, I'm sure you can make it to half five without chewing off your own hand in a fit of self-disgust.
"That's just not the first party thing to do, and it's not the Rare thing to do.".
An important detail from Aoife's Kinect Sports Rivals preview: Rare's Twycross HQ spans four converted barns, three of which are off-limits because never you mind why they're off-limits, stupid journalist person. What could those barns contain? The lost treasure of Atlantis? The ghost of Don Mattrick? Or perhaps, one of those reboots Rare is often accused of working on - a new Banjo, Perfect Dark or Viva Pinata for Xbox One.
Plot details also discussed in latest Lionhead blog post.
This week's Fable Legends character breakdown is a minor double-whammy - Lionhead has also seen fit to post details of a new (playable?) area, the Deadlands, a "desolate corner of Albion" that's "patrolled by the Strangers, an elusive group of men and women who act as an army, police force and communications network for those travelling across or living along the edges of this harsh environment".

Ubisoft's upcoming open-world crime romp, Watch Dogs, was recently reclassified with an R18+ rating in Australia.
