"I know some fans would be happy if we just abandoned the effort altogether.".
Do yourself a favour. Take the morning off, whip up a big cup of mead, ambrosia or other Dragon Age-appropriate beverage, and have a read of David Gaider's Tumblr. Among other things, Inquisition's lead writer discusses the creation and "inevitable" fallout over romance options in BioWare's games, admitting that the team sometimes wonder "why we even bother".
CD Projekt touches on sci-fi RPG during Witcher 3 chat.
CD Projekt's Marcin Iwinski has weighed in on rumours that the forthcoming Cyberpunk 2077 is a shooter, assuring tabletop veterans that the developer's boardgame adaptation is "an all-out RPG". Speaking to IGN, Iwinski also spoke in very broad terms about the studio's work on next generation consoles - apparently, CD Projekt is on the cusp of using up everything they have to offer.
Update to add 50 new pieces of gear along with general tweaks and fixes.
Golfing, golfing, let's see... oh! That's that sport with all the silly words, like birdie and caddie and flop shot and stuff, right? I remember now. Well, Powerstar Golf, that Xbox One launch title you just might have forgotten about, gets its first content update this Friday, and by the looks of things, it's rather substantial.

Xbox One is home to some amazing games, that's a given with the likes of Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5 and Ryse: Son of Rome, already starring in an impressive launch line-up. With more system exclusives like Titanfall and Halo 5 on the way the Xbox One's gaming future couldn't be brighter.
"Our commitment to improve the FIFA 14 is ongoing," says EA Sports.
The next FIFA 14 Xbox One title update goes live today, EA has announced, following weeks of not inconsiderable upset about the game's "broken" Online Season matches. Hopefully, the latter will be a fading memory by this time tomorrow.
Pending Microsoft's approval, anyway.
Warhorse Studios would very much like to develop Kingdom Come: Deliverance for release on Xbox One. There are two obstacles to this, at the time of writing. One, Microsoft needs to give its consent - presumably, Warhorse has been in touch with the ID@Xbox team about self-publishing the game via Xbox Live. Two, the developer needs money. At least #163;300,000, to be precise, comprising 10 per cent of the overall budget. You can help with that.
Don't fall foul of that Suspend feature.
Has your Xbox One ever asked you if you own the rights to a disc-based game, requesting that you insert the disc or connect to Xbox Live before you can play? It's possible you've forgotten to close the last game you were playing properly. Here, let Aunty OXM kiss it better.
"Maybe that would happen someday".
Air guitars at the ready. Double Fine man Tim Schafer has reiterated his love for 2009's Br#252;tal Legend, and admitted that there's a chance the studio could revisit that world again someday.
Also describes Naughty Dog as a "unique" and "special studio".
All hail Microsoft Studios corporate vice-president Phil Spencer, dream-maker. And dream-breaker, if all the hints he's dropped about possible Xbox reboots amount to nothing.
It's chicken-kicking good.
Good old Lionhead. The studio's trademark comedy timing is very much alive and kicking chickens in this new launch trailer for Fable: Anniversary, which offsets epic, rousing music and pretty HD visuals with an NPC's very Northern delivery of "That way, you great big Balverine turd!" Excellent.
Maps, weapons and abilities discussed.
Bungie's January podcast made landfall last week, burdening the internet with over an hour of Destiny-flavoured chitchat. I've just had a quick listen, and there's a fair bit on the subject of competitive multiplayer, in which the Guardians of Earth pit their wits, weapons and class abilities against one another on a selection of custom-built maps.
"It will have a story and a campaign," says Tim Salvitti.
There remains precious little to say about Insomniac's gaudy, gory Sunset Overdrive, but we do have a few new concept artworks to chew over. They're new to me, anyway. Additionally, community web developer Tim Salvitti has clarified that the game isn't, in fact, an MMO, though it does have some rather impressive-sounding online features.
Experience the third FFXIII spin-off for yourself.
Xbox Live has been struck by lightning! Which is a sillier way of saying that Xbox Gold subscribers can now download a Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 demo, providing you have 1.14GB to spare. I wonder what would happen if Xbox Live was really struck by lightning? Would it fizzle and expire in a puff of evaporating copper, or suddenly attain the powers of Thor, god of golden hair extensions?
Prototype app simulates the entire solar system.
You might recall reading about an unannounced Xbox One game called Savage Frontier back in September. At the time, there was speculation that it might be a Dungeons & Dragons game - "Savage Frontier", after all, is the name of one of the Forgotten Realms. Xbox One director of development Boyd Multerer has now revealed all in a Microsoft.com profile.
Play every game mode except multiplayer, missions and the treasure map.
For years, sundry internet types have moaned that free-to-play aren't really free-to-play, because you're paying for them as part of your Xbox Gold subscription. Without passing comment on any of that, it may please you to learn that changes are afoot - Happy Wars, Xbox Live's first ever free-to-play title, can now be enjoyed without a subscription.
Ssssh, Sam Fisher's going cheap.
Alright, so Ed's won the morning news with the revelation that you can currently buy Dark Souls for less than the price of a coffee and a biscotti. But hey you guys, I've got cool news too. Turns out Ubisoft are hosting a bit of a price reduction on a few of their Xbox 360 titles, with up to 50% off several Splinter Cell games.
"We see the PC and the Xbox One as very peered platforms," says Jeff Strain.
As revealed last week, Seattle-based Undead Labs is making several new games for Microsoft Studios. One of them is presumably a sequel to State of Decay, the developer's flawed but engrossing and very, very popular zombie survival game for Xbox Live Arcade - back in June 2013, Undead Labs stated that such a project would "clearly" release on Xbox One. Further details are hard to come, naturally, but studio founder Jeff Strain has made a number of illuminating remarks in a new interview with Gamasutra.
Pick up From Software's masterwork for less than #163;4.
Ooh, I like this week's Deal of the Week. I like it every goddamn much indeed, thank you kindly. On the one hand, you've got Dark Souls - arguably the Xbox 360's finest third-person action-RPG - for less than four quid. On the other, one of the Xbox 360's rarest JRPGs, Tales of Vesperia, for just over six quid. Tremendous! Oh, and there's Call of Duty: Ghosts for #163;33.49. Every silver lining has its cloud...
"Unannounced title" will run on Unreal Engine 4.
I had the pleasure of visiting Lionhead Studios last week. I currently have ten pages of notes and approximately 40 minutes of interview time to transcribe, but rest assured there be interesting stuff in the next issue of the mag.
New weapons, vehicle and missions, no co-op support.
Dead Rising 3's first DLC add-on Operation Broken Eagle will release tomorrow, 21st January, executive producer Josh Bridge has revealed. As we speculated this morning, it requires players to download a gargantuan 13GB game update "to ensure compatibility with the online players and all of the upcoming add-on content that's coming out shortly as well".
