News: Crytek learned in February that it would not be making Ryse 2 for Microsoft

Added: 25.06.2014 4:25 | 16 views | 0 comments

Conflict over who owned the rights to the franchise.

Three employees have told Kotaku that Crytek's work on the game was cancelled after a dispute with Microsoft over who owned the intellectual rights to the franchise.

The sources added that Microsoft is no longer sending Crytek cheques and in March employees at the Frankfurt studio weren't paid.

Microsoft said it has "nothing to announce about the future of the franchise at this time," which certainly leaves an opening for the series to return, perhaps at a new studio.

Review: GRID Autosport (Xbox 360)

Added: 24.06.2014 11:54 | 16 views | 0 comments

Back on track: Codemasters' Autosport is a solid return to form for the GRID series, but some minor issues cause a few stumbles.

Autosport certainly feels like a love letter to its fanbase, a thinly-veiled apology for the misguided GRiD 2. It offers motorheads the chance to race across over 100 different routes through 22 locations in Endurance, Touring, Tuner, Street and Open Wheel events, as well as the GRID Grand Slam, which combines races from all five race types once you reach certain XP milestones.

No matter which race you’re in, or where you are on the track, you’re guaranteed to be involved in high-octane, wheel-to-wheel action. Cars will spin-out, smash into you and offer a challenge that...

News: Resogun's Heroes expansion detailed

Added: 24.06.2014 11:34 | 9 views | 0 comments

Includes the new Avernus planet, plus Survival and Demolition game modes.

The planet Avernus is the developer's homage to Greek mythology in which Avernus was the gate to The Underworld. The planet is dark and full of new enemies to shoot. Gameplay here is focussed on two new modes.

Survival Mode

Players descend onto Avernus – featuring an all new day and night cycle - with the purpose of taking the fight to Sentients and destroying everything that moves. This won't be an easy task with just a single life at your disposal.

Players do, however, have access to an improved shield, turbo speed, overcharged weapons and more.

News: Destiny will be a great experience from moment one

Added: 24.06.2014 7:33 | 10 views | 0 comments

Bungie has safeguards in place to ensure any issues are overcome.

COO Pete Parson told GameIndustry at E3 earlier this month that the studio has been gearing up for launch for over a year.

"We pinged our data centre for the first time more than a year ago," said Parson. "So we have been actively preparing."

"Neither Bungie nor Activision do anything by halves," he added. "There's a reason why we've been doing, the reason why we have this Alpha today, the reason why these people are playing off the same data centre, if the internet goes down or a meteor hits our data centre, we're not playing on the floor today. There's no safeguards...

News: The fur on this Witcher 3 wolf probably won't look as realistic on PS4 and Xbox One

Added: 24.06.2014 6:23 | 9 views | 0 comments

PC gamers promised more realistic fur, takes advantage of Nvidia HairWorks.

The video explains that thanks to the tech a wolf in The Witcher 3 can feature 200,000 hair strands, each simulated with a secondary motion in order to "bring the wolf to life".

You'll also spot a horse, sporting realistically animated hair on the mane and tail.

Back at E3, The Witcher 3 executive producer John Mamais said PC gamers using Ultra settings would benefit from improved tessellation, better physics, more post-processing and increased fur realism.

You'll need a powerful PC to make the most of these setting, but he says it will be worth...

News: Microsoft had to 'release an Xbox One SKU without a camera,' says Sony

Added: 24.06.2014 5:21 | 7 views | 0 comments

Microsoft's $499 price point at E3 2013 left Sony dancing in the isles and high fiving.

"I think that, to be truthful, we always assumed that eventually they'd have to release a SKU without a camera," he said. "So we were waiting for it to a degree, and we were ready for it."

Speaking of the original $499 Xbox One price point, Rohde said that hearing the figure confirmed at E3 2013 left Sony celebrating the price advantage.

"I'm not gonna lie. I remember exactly where I was," Rohde told Ars. "We were in press conference rehearsals last year. We had a feeling they were going to come in at $499, but we weren't sure. So yeah, we were dancing in the aisles...

News: Why it took so long to bring co-op to Assassin's Creed

Added: 24.06.2014 4:54 | 10 views | 0 comments

"It took years of development to reproduce and redraft all of our sandbox features for a shared online experience," says senior producer.

In an interview with CVG, Pontbriand explains why co-op has taken so long to come to the series.

"Because it's very complicated to do," he said. "Assassin's Creed was always a single-player game to begin with. It took us three games to introduce PvP [player versus player, which was introduced in Brotherhood]."

Multiplayer in previous Assassin's games was a separate mode, but within the same world as the narrative and was also competitive. Ubisoft has already confirmed that there won't be a competitive multiplayer mode in AC: Unity.

"[AC Brotherhood's...
