The movie will be produced by Neal Moritz, the producer of the Fast and Furious serious and 21 Jump Street. Writing duties will be handled by two Upright Citizens Brigade alumni, Evan Susser and Van Robichaux. Marza Animation Planet is also involved with the project.
Following the announcement, Columbia Pictures president of production Hannah Minghella said "There are limitless stories to tell with a character like Sonic the Hedgehog, and a built-in international fan base. Along with our wonderful creative partners at Marza, we're looking to capture everything that generations of...
Two new characters join line-up for Wii U and 3DS.
Pac-Man and Lady Palutena are the latest characters to join the line-up.
Pac-Man is Namco's mascot of over 25 years. This isn't Pac-Man's first appearance in a fighting game, having recently appeared in Street Fighter x Tekken.
Lady Palutena is the Goddess of Light in Kid Icarus and a mother figure to the series' hero, Pit.
Super Smash Bros. launches for 3DS on October 3 and this holiday for Wii U.
Bungie is putting those extra GPU resources to great use.
"After @xboxp3 interview I've been asking devs about impact of new Xbox sdk on perf. Bungie says it will get Destiny to 1080p/30fps on XB1," Tweeted Keighley.
Earlier this week head of Xbox Phil Spencer revealed in a podcast with Major Nelson that Bugnie was to use the GPU resources freed up by dropping Kinect to increase the Destiny resolution, but didn't say what this resolution would be.

Let's hope this is a sign of things to come for Xbox One hitting 1080p on multi-format titles.
Aonuma leaves tantalising hint in interview that we may have a new hero for series' Wii U entry.
"No one explicitly said that that was Link." Aonuma told Venture Beat in an interview.
Aonuma also told the site that he is constantly looking for new ways to shake up the conventions of the series, something which was proven in A Link Between Worlds on the 3DS, where players could explore the dungeons in any order they liked.
So who is this young hero in the trailer? Could it be Zelda herself? Let us know who you think it is on Twitter and Facebook
The Legend of Zelda is set to launch on the Wii U in 2015.
Female lead was planned, but canned as it would have doubled development efforts.
"It was on our feature list until not too long ago, but it's a question of focus and production," Therien explained. "So we wanted to make sure we had the best experience for the character. A female character means that you have to redo a lot of animation, a lot of costumes [inaudible]. It would have doubled the work on those things. And I mean it's something the team really wanted, but we had to make a decision... It's unfortunate, but it's a reality of game development."
When pressed on the issue, specifically that we didn't think his excuse would wash with the community given...
Battlefield: Hardline is extremely fun, but it doesn't set itself apart from the franchise.
If DICE had announced that Hardline was a downloadable pack for Battlefield 4, I wouldn't have blinked an eye after playing it. In many ways, that's a huge compliment to the individuals at Visceral - it's successfully taken everything people love about COD's main rival and squeezed that into a cops and robbers type environment… which is exactly what this is.
The match I was given access to was your traditional objective-based setup: the cops have to protect the vaults, the robbers need to break in and run off with what's inside. You have four classes to choose from - Operator,...
And how its first-person project is 'the best Oculus game you've ever played'.
But by offering fans a peek behind the curtains so early on, key questions about Criterion's concept remain unanswered. Initial prototype videos point toward a first-person, open world extreme sports racer, but when I ask whether that's a good indication of what to expect, Webster remains hazy.
"If you know anything about Criterion and you add multiple vehicles to that, then that gets you on a great starting point," he says, before referring to the studio's work on 2008's Burnout Paradise. "If you take that spirit beyond cars... going on that through line is an awesome starting...
Simon sat down with BioWare for a Dragon Age: Inquisition demo and came away rather confused.
The third Dragon Age's major trump card is how visually impressive it is. BioWare is clearly aware of this, too, if the amount of camera pans that took place during my hands-off demo (because why let anyone play your game at E3?) are anything to go by. It makes the previous entries look laughable in the looks department, showing off a stupidly big world (the area rolled out here is bigger than the entirety of Origins) that is absolutely packed with missions to take on, and side quests to lose yourself in. If there’s a better advert for DICE’s Frostbite Engine, I am yet to see it.
Steve sat in for a look at Hidetaka Miyazaki's latest. It's not got Souls in the title, but it's got the heart of that franchise.
Boasting a Gothic aesthetic, Bloodborne is set in and around a large town filled with gloomy streets and imposing architecture. The environment on show boasted an impressive level of geometry - buildings loomed far into the distance, enticing players to explore - hinting at it having the same level of intricacy as Miyazaki's previous games. This was demonstrated by a rep (the demo was hands-off, sadly) showing alternate routes through the cobbled streets and the dingy, primitive street lights that illuminate them. Speaking of which, dynamic lighting is present. Exploring certain buildings...
Steve saw the new Rainbow Six game behind closed doors, and came away thinking less is indeed more.
The setup: four terrorists are holed up in a location (in this case, a large suburban home) with a hostage, and have to fortify the building with movable barricades, shields, explosives and other tactical gear. The opposing SWAT team has to breach these defenses, and either rescue the hostage or shoot everyone dead.
It's a simple idea, and not a particularly new one. But, from this brief showing, it seems to be executed very well, using the limitations placed on the players to drive the game's tension. The terrorists only have enough gear to fortify some of the house, and...
Another Assassin's Creed game, another chance for Ubisoft to deliver on the series' lofty potential. Steve played it: here's how it stacks up.
If you saw the demo at Microsoft's conference, you'll know that the developer is pushing its crowd tech, with Ubisoft claiming there'll be 3,000 AIs in the world for you to shove past like the world's most irate tube passenger. But it's not just the macro scale that impresses: like The Division, Unity is crammed with incidental detail, made real through high-res textures, good art design, and a large draw distance. Water pools in the streets, individual roof tiles are missing or broken, half-torn propaganda posters are trampled underfoot: there's stuff everywhere, and not only does it give...
