Of course, you know this. Nobody’s expecting it to be the next Mass Effect, or even Alpha Protocol. At best, I suspect, people are just hoping that it scratches that Big RPG itch while we wait for the next major entry in the genre to surface – particularly if they’re on next-gen, as this is pretty much the first game of its type on those platforms.
Unfortunately, it is an awful game which doesn’t deserve anyone’s time or money.
While it features the basic building blocks of an RPG, the presentation they’re wrapped in is offensively shoddy. Graphically it...
Nintendo's refusal to include same-sex relationships in Tomodachi Life has caused a backlash that it should have seen coming.
"Nintendo never intended to make any form of social commentary with the launch of 'Tomodachi Life'" read the statement that aimed to clarify matters, presumably written by a PR robot created and controlled via proprietary Nintendo Head-Burying Software. "The relationship options in the game represent a playful alternate world rather than a real-life simulation. We hope that all of our fans will see that 'Tomodachi Life' was intended to be a whimsical and quirky game, and that we were absolutely not trying to provide social commentary."
Never Alone is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC this autumn.
The game stars a young Iñupiaq girl called Nuna and her Arctic fox companion, and sees players exploring the fantastical world of Iñupiaq stories to help Nuna save her people from an endless blizzard.
Gameplay is a blend of puzzles and platforming, with the player switching between Nuna and the fox in order to progress. A cooperative mode is also planned.
Rebellion reveals further details on next month's WW2 shooter.
Answering questions on the game's official Facebook page, Rebellion said that the initial release will feature "weapons used in the conflict - so the favourites are back - the M1 Garrand, the British Lee Enfield and Gewehr. We'll be adding some popular V2 ones and some all-new rifles at a later date!"
Additional multiplayer features could also roll out after launch, too, the developer suggests.
But while all initial DLC is set to release on all platforms, some later DLC may be restricted to Rebellion's self-published PC version unless 505 Games decides to bring it to...
In a statement sent to VideoGamer.com this afternoon, Techland confirmed that "after careful consideration, we have decided to release our upcoming game in February 2015. Since this means Dying Light will launch a few months later than originally planned, we feel obliged to explain the reasons that influenced this important decision.
"When we started the development of Dying Light, we were committed to innovation. We wanted to give you a freedom of movement unprecedented in open world games. After many improvements and months of hard work, we have now come so close to realizing...
It's a revelation that explains why Sony has been so reluctant to give PS4 gamers the option to turn off the largely redundant light.
"The tracking light... it was our department that said we need that on," said Ashforth. "It was for tracking for VR."
"And when all these things were coming out six months ago and everyone was going 'it's reflecting in my TV,' we were going 'oh no' because we couldn't tell anyone what it was for."
Exactly when Sony's virtual reality device Project Morpheus will actually give PS4 gamers the chance to fully utilise the light bar...
Promising the most authentic pool experience on the market, the game will be published for Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program.
VooFoo previously brought us Hustle Kings and aims to bring a new level of realism to the table in Pure Pool. Expect a more connected experience with players able to exist in a living, breathing pool hall.
"We plan to set the bar on digital pool higher than ever before with Pure Pool," said Mark Williams, technology director at VooFoo Studios. "Since the success of Pure Chess and Hustle Kings, we wanted to follow up with an even better game for...
But Monster Hunter 4 is the real money maker for Capcom.
Xbox One exclusive Dead Rising 3 sold 1.2 million copies as of March 31, up from the 1 million units shipped as of December 20, 2013.
Capcom hasn't offered details on the success of the Dead Rising 3 DLC.
Monster Hunter 4 on 3DS eclipsed all others, however, shipping a pretty hefty 4.1 million units since launch in September 2013. The game becomes Capcom's sixth best-selling game of all time. The franchise has now sold over 28 million units.
Game Informer gets first video footage of Insomniac's colourful open-worlder.
The footage offers the first look at Sunset Overdrive's Sunset City and the various weapons you'll get to grips with while taking down the energy drink-overdosed zombie mutants. It looks a lot like a colourful, Jet Set Radio-inspired take on Dead Rising to us...
Sunset Overdrive launches later this year exclusively on Xbox One.
Another optional area of Dark Souls 2 is investigated in VideoGamer's latest guide.
As you head up the stairs from the first bonfire (found by using a Pharros’ Lockstone in Iron Keep), you’ll be greeted by a mist doorway and a bellkeeper. Don’t bother joining the covenant, pass through the mist and you’ll face dark Bellkeepers and a dark witch. The Bellkeepers will respawn if you die or rest at a bonfire, but the other dark spirits won’t. Neither the bellkeepers or witch are particularly troublesome.
Once the two Bellkeepers and witch are down, head to the far left of this area, where there’s two rooms. The room on the right contains a lever to ring...
Brett guides you through the scorching hot Iron Keep in VideoGamer's latest guide.
Merchant Magerold of Lanafir is at the end of this passage, whom mainly sells spells for mage characters. Backtrack down the hall and head up the stairs, where there’s another Alonne Knight up the first flight. Turn left and grab the Pharros Lockstone from the body over-hanging the ledge, then head back past the stairs, pressing the action button along the wall to reveal a hidden room.
Keep heading through and you’ll reach a ballista, there’s another illusory wall where it’s facing, hit the action button to reveal it. There’s also fire arrows in here too. Once the wall...
Insomniac says the game shouldn't be about counting pixels.
Speaking on the benefits of working on a single format, Insomniac creative director Marcus Smith told the magazine: "When we worked with Sony, that made it easier, because we were focussed on that hardware. With Sunset Overdrive, it's the same thing. It makes it easier for us to focus on the one thing and tap the hardware in a way that we probably couldn't if we were crossplatform."
EDGE then interjects to state that, "for now", the game is another Xbox One title running in sub-1080p.
Insomniac president and CEO Ted Price played down the importance of hitting 1080p.
