Surprising I'm sure no one, Call of Duty: Black Ops II is the most desired game from Xbox 360's catalog of titles that Xbox One gamers want to come to Microsoft's new-gen platform via backwards compatibility.
The "final" poster for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been revealed, and features not only our main man Snake (aka Big Boss), but also his sniper-wielding sidekick Quiet. Oh, and did I mention they're both completely soaked in blood?
Step aside, Jack, because the real Skeleton King has arrived. King Leoric has entered the Nexus chewing gum and swinging mace, and he's all out of gum. As part of Heroes of The Storm's ongoing Eternal Conflict—and it is really beginning to feel like an eternity, Leoric is the latest in the Diablo-themed line-up. The Butcher may have been menacing, but it is King Leoric you will learn to avoid because he just won't die.
Literally. I mean, come on, he's a Skeleton King. He already died once.
Like the great Teddy Roosevelt before him, King Leoric walks and carries a big stick. Skeletal Swing (his "Q" ability) will be your primary damage dealer, sweeping in a wide arc and slowing enemies for 2.5 seconds. This does double damage to non-Heroic characters, making him a perfect fit for some front-line lane action.
King Leoric's second ability is Drain Hope, something he must have learned from my ex-girlfriend. A ghostly hand reaches out and grabs a Hero's soul, draining him for up to 25 percent of his maximum Health while also healing you for the same. While this is great to initiate during 1v1 or even team fights, you are slowed by 20 percent as a result. Sucking the life out of someone takes its toll, doesn't it, Karen?
In an interview with Famitsu, as translated by Siliconera, Sega CEO and president Naoki Satomi drops a dose of honesty concerning Sega's performance in the last decade:
We did our best to build a relationship of mutual trust with older fans of Sega, but looking back, there've been some titles that have partially betrayed that [trust] in the past 10 years.
Since Sega's acquisition of Atlus, it has received a welcome kick in the butt:
As far as the Western market goes, we learned a lot from Atlus. If we can make a title with proper quality, I believe there's a good chance for it to do well even in the West for players that like to play Japanese games.
As such, Satomi believes that in order for Sega to turn around, they will need to sacrifice quantity for quality:
I've been talking to the employees about how we should start putting serious consideration into quality from this point on. Especially in North America and Europe, where it's always been more of a focus on schedules, I believe that if we can't maintain quality, it would be better to not release anything at all.
While Satomi thinks that such a high-quality title won't be available by the end of the year, they "will announce something for home console at Tokyo Game Show."
The evolution of the first-person adventure continues with The Vanishing of Ethan Carter from developer The Astronauts. Originally , thereÄ‚Ë€â„Ës no real "action" to speak of which is as it should be. Even when you equip an item like a crank, itÄ‚Ë€â„Ës not used to kill the undead. Unlike Gone Home, which was set solely in a suburban home, this takes place mostly outdoors in a stunning forest town, the fictional Red Creek Valley in Wisconsin.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is set to arrive shortly after the launch of Windows 10 with an August 25th release date. During this period of time Microsoft will begin its expansion of first-party game releases to PC beginning with a confirmed release of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on the platform. However, PC gamers will have to wait a bit longer to play it.
July 2015 hasn't been very friendly to gamers. Last year we had The Last of Us Remastered to entertain us through the heat of the Summer. This year many are relying on indie games like Rocket League and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter to entertain them. It may come as no surprise to you that both have experienced monumental financial success.
More than four weeks ago gaming website Gamekyo posted information regarding their discussion with Konami's Julien Merceron, a technology director who has spent a great deal of time working on the Fox Engine. Among the details shared was something that seemed almost too good to be true at the time. Merceron stated that due to Microsoft's release of a new Xbox One SDK, Konami development members were able to improve the presentation of this year's Metal Gear Solid and Pro Evolution Soccer releases, jumping from their prior 720p resolution to a staggering 1080p.
New details regarding Project Setsuna, the upcoming console Japanese role-playing game from Square Enix, have been revealed.
In an interview with Famitsu (as translated by Siliconera), Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda confirmed that the game will be themed around "setsunasa," the Japanese word for sadness or sorrow.
Xbox One's addition of Xbox 360 backwards compatibility, along with its incredible lineup of exclusive games, is the reason the platform is currently "building momentum," according to Microsoft.
Despite receiving high scores from critics, Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth has received clamorous fan reaction on all fronts. Just take a quick look at
Feist debuted as a Mac-only beta in 2008, paving the way for other high contrast platform puzzlers like Limbo and Badland. Since then it's evolved into a faster, more combat-heavy physics based platformer.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II came out 12 years ago on Xbox and PC, but that doesn't mean the game can't be updated all these years later. In fact, it was updated earlier today on Steam.
Journey, the 2012 indie hit from developer thatgamecompany, heads to PlayStation 4 today. For many it will be their first experience with the game, but I played through it multiple times back on the PlayStation 3. It's the kind of game meant to be played in a single sitting, and it only takes two or three hours to complete. Nevertheless, I wanted to jump back into the vast desert world numerous times with new partners. Somehow, each Journey playthrough manages to feel like its own distinct experience. It's like playing the game for the first time all over again, and there's a certain magic to its replayability.
Seth Killiam aims for a storm of new fighting gamers.
After our meeting, if I were asked to characterize Seth Killian in a single phrase, I suppose I would describe him as "a fighting game evangelist." Making the case for a broader adoption of fighting games, one could say that Radiant Entertainment's robot fighting game, Rising Thunder, is the metaphorical Gospel to Killian's video game preacher. The game which aims to make fighters more accessible, since they have a steep learning curve and barrier in technical execution. As Killian described it, when someone outside of the fighting game world tries to break into it with their game of choice: "First pay $60, now begin training, in three-to-six months you get to play the actual game. There's a satisfaction to that, but it's not a satisfaction I have time for."
Square Enix has released a significant patch for Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward today that makes additions and adjustments to the game in various ways. Looking at the lengthy patch notes you may be overwhelmed. To help ease you into the current state of the game, I'll go over the major elements of 3.05 in an easily digestible manner. See below.
1. Alexander Savage is Now Available
Controllers have long been the input standard of choice for console games. Although they perform adequately in most scenarios, there are certain game genres where a keyboard and mouse would provide better quality of life to the experience. Up to this point current generation consoles haven't natively supported mouse input, but Microsoft is looking to change that.
For years IÄ‚Ë€â„Ëve heard about Onechanbara as a series (though I was the dumb guy who said "one-chan-bahra" instead ofhellip; you know, how itÄ‚Ë€â„Ës properly supposed to be said), but I hadnÄ‚Ë€â„Ët played one myself. It seemed like a bestseller on paper: four women slaughtering zombies in fetish wear—bikinis, lolita dress, schoolgirl outfits—using multiple different weapons and scouring the planet to save humanity. Oh, and sometimes they say cheeky things to one another, like "quit twiddlinÄ‚ËĂ˘â€šÂ¬Ă˘â€žË your tits." (It means "hurry up," in case youÄ‚Ë€â„Ëre confused at all and are thinking about something else entirely.)
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is releasing in a little over a month and a half, and I don't know about you, but I simply can't wait. While some love the games for their stealth-action gameplay, I'm all for the wacky and intricate plot that spans a whole bunch of games, each with their own tale chock-full of crazy twists and turns.
Contrary to prior reports, Devil's Third, the upcoming Wii U action game from developer Valhalla Game Studios, will be published by Nintendo of America and arrive in the territory sometime during the fourth quarter of 2015.
