In this timed exclusive trailer, we've got a first look at two classes for the upcoming The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III: the Elementalist and the Protector. This last episode in NeoCore Games' trilogy will release sometime in the second quarter of this year on PC via Steam.
Activision and Treyarch released the reveal trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops III this weekend, and it looks like the upcoming entry will follow the futuristic formula of last year's Advanced Warfare.
[Update] Unfortunately it looks like Guillermo del Toro was right about the future of Silent Hills. The game has been canceled according to the following Konami statement sent to Kotaku this morning:
Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic Ä‚Ë€ÂÂSilent HillsÄ‚ËĂ˘â€šÂ¬Ă˘â€žË project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.
Tinertia explores the concept of a platformer with no jump button, and the upcoming indie game now has a release window of Fall 2015 according to developer Candescent Games Inc., design partner Section Studios, and indie games partner Reverb Triple XP.
It looks like the Konami/Kojima breakup is getting even messier, and according to Guillermo del Toro, P.T. may be the closest gamers ever get to the long-awaited Silent Hills.
Del Toro, who was to partner with Hideo Kojima on the ninth installment of the Silent Hill franchise, spoke about it at a film event in San Francisco, saying that "It's not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart."
For many P.T. symbolizes hope for the horror genre. For others, it was a trip down insomnia lane. But no matter who you are or your tastes, there's no denying that it's a very special game that demonstrated how terrifying a game can be in the current-generation. Unfortunately, it appears that it won't be available forever.
The introduction of Bloodborne's v1.03 patch this week was a reason to be excited for many PS4 gamers. While its noticeable reduction in loading times was the highlight, there were undocumented changes that similarly have had an impact on the game experience.
Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward is just two months away, and Square Enix has decided to release two brand new trailers to celebrate the occasion.
The first trailer is the official benchmark video for Heavensward. On Monday it will be released in benchmark form so that PC gamers can see how their rig fares with the expansion. For now, the video is viewable in all its stunning glory. It shows several of the expansion's hot additions including flying mounts, the new Au'Ra race, and even the long-awaited Dark Knight job. See it in all its beauty below.
The first Gears of War game is getting remade for Xbox One, according to a new report that just surfaced online.
Inside sources have told Polygon that not only is Microsoft's first-party studio Black Tusk working on a remaster of the original Gears, it's enlisting the help of developer Splash Damage for the new-gen makeover, as well as animation studio Plastic Wax, who will allegedly be remaking all the cutscenes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III will launch on November 6... at least, that's what a "leaked" GameStop flyer would lead us to believe.
The leaked image, which was provided to Kotaku by a tipster, not only notes the aforementioned release date, but also provides details on a pre-order incentive. According to the alleged marketing materials, those who plunk down money on the game early (for Xbox One, PS4, or PC) will gain access to a pre-release beta.
And the leaks don't end there, as yet another batch of images have since surfaced online, outing a 4-player co-op campaign, a more robust Zombies mode that features XP-centric character progression, and a "momentum-based chain-movement system."
Check that, no, I definitely suck at Battlefield 3. I might suck at Battlefield as a whole. Probably.
As you might now, I tend to be way behind on my shooters. When you don't care about online play, have laughably little spare cash, and need to dedicate several weekly hours to playing games you don't necessarily choose yourself (which in my case happen to be Japanese), this is bound to happen. So yes, I'm still not finished with that game.
Not that anyone ever doubted it would be, but the recent release of Mortal Kombat X has been the biggest launch of the famous fighting series ever, smashing sales figures like a well-executed Brutality. While players are perfecting their trick shooting with Erron Black or their selfies with Cassie Cage, a quiet figure lies in wait in the woods.
Marvel recently announced an exciting collaboration with Telltale Games for a yet unnamed project for 2017. Whoa, that's a long way out. Jessica Vazquez and I recently attended a private showing with the newly formed Marvel Games where they announced their collaboration for the first time. Each presenter and lead developer including Peter Phillips, Jay Ong, Bill Roseman, and Mike Jones has a strong body of work behind them and each shared a piece of Marvel's direction and strategy for future game development.
For every Spyro and Mario, there's an awful knock-off and a ridiculous idea someone somehow convinced a marketing exec to throw money at. Sometimes, those ideas even get multiple rounds of money, whether or not they deserve the first fistful (because market paradigm shifts and game-changing empowering of the brand and such, I guess?).
NetherRealm Studios plans to introduce more characters to Mortal Kombat X with DLC, including horror film legend Jason Voorhees. Now fans know how long they have to wait to play as the Friday the 13th villain.
Xenoblade Chronicles X was the topic of today's Nintendo Direct broadcast, and the video showcase revealed more details on the upcoming Wii U JRPG's various mechanics and systems.
[Update] The script writer for Overlord: Fellowship of Evil, Rhianna Prachette, has responded to the negative fan reaction to Codemasters new venture in the series. Approximately 75% of the votes on the YouTube announcement trailer are dislikes.
I've been spending the past few days playing Killing Floor 2's Early Access. It's been an interesting ride, to say the least. I usually steer clear of Early Access games, and have been reminded why with Killing Floor 2. It needs some work.
