NeoGAF users have spotted an interesting trademark made by Sony Computer Entertainment. Filed on April 1 (the start of the new fiscal year), the Japanese trademark is for a "portable LCD screen game device," and it looks pretty much exactly like a Vita, as you can see here:
This June, when Microsoft takes the stage in Los Angeles for its E3 2015 press conference, it will be revealing a brand new intellectual property coming exclusively to its new-gen platform.
Branded by Square Enix as an action RPG, tagged as a Warriors game by anyone with eyeballs, Dragon Quest Heroes is a mix of the two. While signature Warriors gameplay is at the core — fighting off hundreds of enemies at a time with wide-sweeping combos and brutal special moves — publisher Square Enix has made sure that developer Koei Tecmo included growth systems and gameplay staples of action RPGs.
Square Enix is preparing Rise of Mana for release on PlayStation Vita some time this spring in Japan. Also available on mobile devices, the game is an action RPG that I'm sure longtime fans will be seeing as a potential source of nostalgia. As a Mana fan myself, I just hope the game is better than Dawn of Mana and Heroes of Mana, both of which were... let's say... disappointing.
It's been a long road for Ben Shostak, the developer of High Strangeness and wwner and Lead Developer of Barnyard Intelligence Games
Shostak paired with Steve Jenkins to run their original Kickstarter campaign for just $1,500, and only received an extra $59. So it's no surprise that it's taken six years to produce the finished product, compared to the days after Double Fine Adventure, when a game like High Strangeness would likely have garnered tens of thousands for its concept.
One cursory glance at Bandai Namco Entertainment's lineup of games releasing this year, and it would seem like a mishmash of disparate franchises that have nothing to do with each other. Pac-Man, plus the Souls series, plus racing simulators, plus anime-licensed games? What the hell is going on with this lineup?
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a Vita-exclusive RPG with dozens of hours of content. I know this because I started it two weeks ago and don't feel like I'm anywhere near the end. Should you decide to start it too, here's a glimpse of what awaits during the prologue and first chapter.
Spamming F5 to refresh the browser. Clicking furiously in hopes that the server processes your request in time. Sound familiar? This is the yearly experience of anyone hoping to go to BlizzCon, Blizzard's world renowned gaming convention.
My recent reflection on Mortal Kombat II got me wondering about MK9. Not X. I'll wait for the price to go down, if I dip into that pool at all. These games don't get released in Japan, however, so I was surprised to see a used copy of MK9 for the Vita. As it turns out, the independent game shop nearest to me takes foreign trade-ins.
Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is the first Monster Hunter game to ship a million units outside of Japan. This includes physical units sent to retailers and digital copies downloaded from the Nintendo eShop.
When Nick Tan and I had the chance to go check out Bandai Namco Entertainment's Global Gamer's Day for the Americas last week in Las Vegas, we were expecting to see plenty of anime titles, one of Bandai Namco's fortes. We were not disappointed in this - we checked out previews of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, J-Stars Victory Vs. +, and Saint Seiya: Soldiers' Soul, among others.
Weapons degrade in Dark Souls II - it's only natural. The rate at which they degrade has been an issue though, and From Software plans to fix the issue in an upcoming patch.
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin contains a glitch in which frame rate affects weapon durability. If the game runs at 60FPS, weapons degrade faster. It means players are forced to carry multiple weapons in case one breaks on the way to the next bonfire or boss.
I love my parents. I do, really. But neither of them are particularly savvy gamers, no matter what I might have tried to suggest to them over the years. Often enough itÄ‚Ë€â„Ës ended up with them figuring out what to buy me for birthdays and holidays, but like a lot of players, I want to share the love with them.
GameRevolution is giving away ten copies of Lost Within, a survival horror game for iOS published by Amazon Game Studios and developed by Human Head Studios, who is also responsible for the Rune series and Prey (whose Prey 2 was unfortunately cancelled by Bethesda).
Battlefield Hardline was the number one selling game of March in the U.S. according to a report by the NPD group.
The sales data only tracks physical copies. Nevertheless, it's not surprising to see the newest Battlefield entry in the top spot. Bloodborne is right behind at #2, the PlayStation 4 exclusive that follows in the footsteps of the Souls series.
The story mode in Mortal Kombat X includes battles with some characters that aren't currently playable, but that won't stop the mod community from expanding the roster.
Modder XVermillion changed a few files in the PC version of Mortal Kombat X, which now allows players to use Rain, Baraka, and Sindel. All three of these characters only appear in the story mode and aren't playable.
