Carl Williams writes, "Scrolling shooters are a staple of videogames. Dont believe me, just go look at the catalog of games from the first days of videogames. Asteroids was a shooter, so was Raid on Bungling Bay. Defender- yep. On the NES there were countless titles such as Gradius, Guardian Legend and more. Scrolling shooters in general are retrogaming and are going to be around in the future, that is for sure as indie and homebrew developers are picking up the slack left by the professionals. One console that was left in Japan and certainly not on the radar for most gamers in North America is the NEC PC-FX. Anyone remember this one? Anyone?"

| Fairy Fencer F Review (Denkiphile)

Davis from Denkiphile: "With few Japanese titles on the PC market, Japan-centric gamers must hold onto PC releases dearly regardless of technical mishaps. As a result, weve had both a shortage of Japan developed PC titles and a massive influx of ports lately that have missed their mark. With several titles on Steam recently, Idea Factory is definitely part of this trend. With their latest title, Fairy Fencer F, which was originally published by NIS America several years ago, the company continues its onslaught on PC gamers. Worry not, though, members of the master race, this is a quality port."

| Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence - PC Preview | Chalgyr's Game Room

Chalgyr's Game Room writes:
I have been hearing about Nobunaga's Ambition from Nick for a long time. If you read his Retro Reflection here, you realize just how long - we are talking NES days. He is not the only one who has been following the various updates and release announcements about Koei Tecmo's upcoming Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence. Having had a chance to spend some time with the game, my thoughts are quite favorable - and I thought I would share the experience.
Admittedly my tastes lean towards fantasy strategy titles, but science fiction and history simulations can be a lot of fun if they are done right as well. All of the early indicators point towards Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence being done right. This is a series of games that has not seen much activity in North America in some time, but if this preview gives us a good read on what the final release quality will be, we should have a strong case for more titles like this in the future.

| Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy Review [Capsule Computers]

Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:
"Except for a few exceptions, first person dungeon crawlers nearly faded from existence in the West. However in recent years with the rise of indie developers and the popularity of the genre growing, more Japanese dungeon crawlers have begun to make their way overseas. With numerous titles proving that there is still life left in such games, NIS America has localized Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy. Developed by the same staff that worked on Demon Gaze, is this title worth picking up?"
