Why I Hate Castlevania 64

Added: 25.08.2015 3:18 | 21 views | 0 comments

Castlevania was a great series, but one game started a down turn of events that led to the series loosing it's original focus. Castlevania 64 might not be the worst game ever, but it's impact left a scar on RetroGamingTube 85 that he may never recover from.

Top Castlevania Hacks, Breath New Life into a NES Classic

Carl Williams writes, "Castlevania is an iconic series of gaming, both retro gamers and modern gamers know the name and have some understanding of the franchise. Just like Mario and his antics, Castlevania is almost timeless, or at least Konami would love for it to be. With most things retro there are fans out there that have taken it upon themselves to use tools to rework, hack and hopefully improve on the original Castlevania. This article is about some of the best, and a few bad, hacks available."

HBHUD's Review of Victor Vran

Added: 06.08.2015 21:18 | 27 views | 0 comments

"Victor Vran is not a bad game, it just doesnt really have any bite, which is somewhat funny when you consider that it has a pretty strong focus on vampires. Made by Haemimont games, long time developers of the Tropico series, Victor Vran aims to take the traditional Diablo style ARPG formula and jazz it up a bit, making it more dynamic and streamlined. While they most certainly accomplish that, it comes at the cost of some of the finer edges of addictive min-maxing goodness that we normally associate with the genre. Without that greater compulsive itch to drive players forward, it becomes clear how toothless the rest of the game really is, especially when it concerns the Castlevania lite story and setting. But while there are most certainly issues in this game that should be discussed (and we most definitely will be doing that), underneath it all lies pretty decent ARPG thats especially welcoming to genre newcomers while at the same time providing enough new ideas to entice mor...

Well, in case you were wondering if Konami actually was going to push more of their IPs into that side of their business, you need not wonder any longer. Silent Hill Pachislot 3.0 has been recently announced by the publisher via a press event in Japan.

Sumthing writes: Its plausible (indulge me), to say that without Keiji Yamagishis 1989 album for Tecmos Ninja Gaiden, the video games industry might not have made it this far, or at the very least, wed be sitting in a very alternate version of 1985. Story would have remained an afterthought, music in-game treated as some exorbitant luxury: some would have it, and others wouldnt. Its that simple. Where certainly there had been fine examples before Yamagishis treatise, his peers were indeed vocal: Konamis 1987 Castlevania and Nintendos 1985 classic Metroid immediately spring to mind, neither matched Yamagishis fetish for scale.
