League of Legends World Championships schedule announced

Tickets for upcoming MOBA tournament will be available on August 15.

Riot Games announced today that tickets for its League of Legends Season 3 World Championships will be available on August 15 at 12 PM PDT. In a post on the League of Legends subreddit, Riot director of eSports that there had been no decision made on ticket prices as of yet, though "they will be in the ballpark of last year."

Riot's announcement comes as both the European and North American LCS seasons come to a close, with the last few matches of the regular season being played out during next week's "super week." The European regionals will occur during the following week at Gamescom with their counterparts playing out their regional matches at PAX Prime the last week of August.

The company also released a preliminary championship schedule including the event locations for each date. While Riot had previously announced the as the locations for the semifinal and final matches respectively, the previously unknown third location is described in the release as "a Los Angeles studio." Tickets for the studio location will also be available, though Rozelle explained the audience size will be small.

The studio will showcase group stage matches September 15-17, September 19-21, and will broadcast the quarterfinal matches September 23rd and 24. The group stage will include 40 games played, indicating a format in which every team will be matched against each other team twice, a departure from the best-of-one format used at the Season 2 World Championship playoffs. The quarterfinal round will include best of three matches, with semifinal and final matches consisting of a best-of-five.

Further details are said to be will be on-hand at the North American, European, and World Championships to provide live coverage.

The world#146;s best Dota 2 teams have descended onto Valve#146;s headquarters in Seattle to compete for what is now in prize money. In addition to the main tournament, Valve will also be hosting a 1v1 Solo Championship, and an All-Star match with players voted on by the fans. Capcom has announced five new characters will be coming to during a panel this weekend at the Evolution Fighting Game Championships (EVO). The new characters along with balance changes will come out sometime in early 2014, with a name and trailer to be shown tomorrow before the Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Finals.

Rolento, Poison, Hugo, and Elena will be joining the cast. Each of the four new characters have been included in Capcom's Street Fighter X Tekken. The fifth and final new character will has never been in a Street Fighter game, Capcom said at the panel today. Along with the five new characters, six new stages also being added.

"I#252;m personally excited to be able to use Rolento in SF4," Capcom senior community specialist and former professional player Peter "Combofiend" Rosas said. "Yes, he was in SFxT, but SF4 and SFxT play very differently, so it#252;ll be a treat to use him against Seth, Hakan, and others that are not in SFxT."

Capcom is also balancing the entire cast of characters again so that they "will all be powerful," they said on today's panel. Capcom illustrated some improvements to Chun-Li, Dudley, T-Hawk, and Balrog, while showing off some of the downgrades to Cammy.

Capcom has and showed off some of the changes already implemented.

The new characters, stages, and balance updates will be released for $15 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC simultaneously sometime in early 2014. Players without Super Street Fighter IV already can purchase the disc version with all the previous DLC costumes released, as well as future content to be discussed in the future. That will cost $39.99.

The name of the game and a trailer will be shown directly before the Super Street Fighter IV: AE Finals on Sunday evening, starting at 6:30 p.m. PDT.
