State of Decay is an experience that, on the surface, feels like a complete mess. Characters clip through walls, get stuck in animations and even fail to perform simple tasks such as following the player on important missions. These are the kinds of issues that would plague most titles, but then again most titles dont have the ambition and engagement that Undead Labs unique creation has.

Tin Salamunic: My first few minutes of playing State of Decay were filled with confusion, rage, and astonishment. I was confused that a game so visually archaic was coming out in 2013, I was enraged at the sluggish framerate which made even the basic movement feel sloppyand I was astonished that thirty minutes later I couldnt put the controller down. On the surface, State of Decay comes off as a GTA/Left 4 Dead hybrid, but its RPG elements and brilliant concepts make it feel more like a survival simulator than a typical action game. Im 20+ hours in and I still cant pull myself away from its immersive world. State of Decay may not be a looker, but its the closest youll come to feeling like youre in the midst of a Walking Dead TV episode.

VGR: State of Decay is an incredibly well thought out game. The open world is fairly large for the price and is entertaining enough to play for a while. There are missions involving several different camps and then the camp of players will have them running errands to help out. It feels realistic in an extremely over the top fun way. I enjoyed my experience tremendously and recommend it to most, but the only thing I felt like it was lacking was co-op ability but it still delivers as a single player title and shouldnt be passed up on.
