Zombie Vikings Review | GameSpew

Added: 21.09.2015 13:17 | 95 views | 0 comments

Emily at GameSpew writes: "Initially it was all about sparkling vampires, then werewolves and now zombies but Zombie Vikings? Those are two words I never thought Id hear together, especially when theyre included in the same game as Odin and his cheeky not-so-nipper, Loki. Sadly were not faced with Anthony Hopkins and Tom Hiddleston (mmm), but instead were given a fair performance by plenty of multi-skilled voice actors. Does it work as a whole though? This is the main question I asked."

I Can't Escape: Darkness Review | GameSpew

Added: 15.09.2015 12:17 | 58 views | 0 comments

James at GameSpew writes: "To be brutally honest, it doesnt feel like I Cant Escape: Darkness has been given the full attention that it needs. Taking it at face value and stripping back all the problems, the game does achieve what it sets out to do, and thats to unnerve the player. Having said that when you are sat in the darkness with a set of headphones plugged in, as is encouraged by the games menu, thats not a magnificent feat. What should define it is how it goes about playing with your anxieties and what sets it apart from other titles of this genre, such as the classic Slenderman. I Cant Escape: Darkness has a lot of things going for it, but unfortunately they are not pushed to its full potential."

Brawlhalla Early Access Review | GameSpew

Added: 14.09.2015 14:17 | 63 views | 0 comments

Jack at GameSpew writes: "From Xaviant Games, Brawlhalla is a 2D arena fighting game akin to the ever-popular Super Smash Bros. Its chaotic, furious, and sometimes a little all over the place, but one things for sure: its insanely addictive. Although the game is currently in Early Access, theres plenty of content to jump right in with. There are currently nine different stages to choose from, ranging from simple layouts for a basic brawl to more complex arenas with moving platforms and dangers, adding another level of chaos to the fight."

Act of Aggression Review | GameSpew

Added: 14.09.2015 14:17 | 94 views | 0 comments

David at GameSpew writes: "Act of Aggression is like taking a trip down memory lane back to 2003. The year of the London congestion charge coming in, all that Iraq bother and worst of all, Brookside finished. Not the best of years then. But at least it gave us Command and Conquer: Generals; which Act of Aggression does its damn best to be a worthy heir to its legacy. For those not familiar, let me give you a brief overview. In Act of Aggression you play as one of three post-modern factions. First up is an underfunded, but battle hardened, US military who have the most recognisable units and a good choice for newcomers to the genre. Second, the multi-national United Nations force, Chimera, who sport a good mixture of adaptable high tech units. Lastly there is the shadowy Cartel; a criminal organisation of cutting edge tech and private military contractors."

Mad Max Review | GameSpew

Added: 11.09.2015 18:17 | 59 views | 0 comments

Kim at GameSpew writes: "An arid wasteland with nothing but barren desert as far as the eye can see. All youve got are the clothes on your back, and the set of wheels attached to your gas pedal. In a world where civilisation is all but forgotten, only two things matter: guzzolene and violence. And youre going to have to use a lot of the latter if you want any of the former. You are Mad Max. And shit is about to get crazy. Oceans dried up, and humanity was left to rot. Civilisation died out a long time ago, and those that remain are mere shadows of the humans that came before them: savages that only speak the lingo of bloodlust and crazed ideas. Roads may have long since been worn away and buried under ever-expanding deserts, but road rage lives on. If you want to be anybody in this new, rotten world, youve got to own the roads, and thats exactly what Max intends to do."

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Review | GameSpew

Added: 11.09.2015 16:17 | 48 views | 0 comments

Graham at GameSpew writes: "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the last final hurrah for Hideo Kojima, and the last breath in the (Kojima made) Metal Gear games, but rather than a final gasp, its an almighty roar. Kojima is going out with an impossibly loud bang with quite possibly the greatest open world game ever made. Im going to get straight to the point here. This is one of the greatest open world video games ever made. In a genre that has been stagnating for years under the weight of huge worlds littered with shallow side quests, minor distractions and pathetic mini-games, Kojima sweeps this cluttered table clean with The Phantom Pain and keeps on going right into the sunset. Metal Gear Solid V is a vast game, and untangling all the many little strands of detail and complexity that make up each moment of the game makes it hard for me to know where to even begin describing it."

On Metal Gear Solid V, Mad Max and the Ethical Role of Reviewers

Added: 09.09.2015 16:17 | 71 views | 0 comments

Rich at GameSpew writes: "Last Tuesday saw the release of what for many will probably be the game of the year, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The latest entry in the highly regarded Metal Gear series, it was undoubtedly hyped beyond measure thanks to a constant barrage of media coverage about the game itself and the apparent fallout between its creator, Hideo Kojima, and his employer Konami. With mainstream press attending camps to review the game, before launch day it had already acquired a bewildering number of glowing reviews awarding the title 5/5 and 10/10 scores. Youd honestly believe it heralded a new age of videogames given the amount of praise bestowed upon it. Released on the same day, and therefore pretty much sent out to die, was a new game based on the Mad Max film franchise. Developed by Avalanche Studios of Just Cause fame, review copies for this title were sent out for the day of release, meaning that reviews trickled through shortly after its muted launch...
