Think your job sucks? Imagine if your vocation involved nothing except risking your life to grow a plant that will inevitably wind up munching on you. In They Need to be Fed 2 for iOS, you guide the main character through all manner of perilous traps, only to throw him in the mouth of Audrey II’s shadowy cousin at the end of each level. It’s a crummy destiny for the little dude, but it’s also a fun game.

Sometimes in the recesses of my subconscious I hear Jon St. John’s gravelly Duke utter out “Damn, those alien bastards are gonna pay for shootin’ up my ride” as his spaceship crashes in the distance. That might not even be the exact line, or the exact context it’s said in, but the memory has still stayed with me. I have fond memories of Duke Nukem’s charm, but not so much its gameplay.

The App Rule of Four states that the best game ideas can be described in a four-word sentence, such as: fling birds into pigs. Get water to alligator. Run until you die. Blendoku is the latest in this long but succinct line of four word brilliances: put colors into order.

Deep Sea Deli Review (iPad)

Narwhals are the Jedi of the sea, and they’re also pretty darn good at making sandwiches. Deep Sea Deli by PlayFirst is an iOS puzzle game that shows off the aquatic species’ lesser-known talent at assembling bacon, ham, and bread into something magically delicious. Like a solid BLT, Deep Sea Deli seems unimpressive at first taste, but after you take a couple of mouthfuls, you begin to enjoy how nicely all the ingredients come together.

The game in question has been revealed to be a collectable card game and real-time strategy hybrid that’s set in the throes of the Underworld, and has the working title of Hell Invaders. We here at Gamezebo felt especially obligated to bring you this good news today, for fear that Spicy Horse would follow through on their press release promise to track us down and force us to listen to them sing the full 7:30 version of Meat Loaf’s “” should we fail to spread the word.

Bird Mania Review (iPad)

When Bird Mania was first released on the Nintendo 3DS eShop almost a year ago today, it received mix reviews from fans and critics alike. While some applauded the sharp visuals and fast gameplay, others criticized the severe lack of things to do in the game. Unfortunately, not much seems to have changed in this iOS port. At its core, Bird Mania is a simple endless runner game, but one that shows us that sometimes simple isn’t always necessarily better.

Bookworm Heroes Review (iPad)

The problem with the free-to-play (FTP) model is not that it exists. The problem is that some publishers who are in love with FTP implement the system in a manner that screws the player instead benefitting him or her. PopCap’s Bookworm Heroes is one example of a great game that’s dragged down by its FTP elements. It’s too bad we can’t just pay $1.99 and avoid stressing out over coins, pets, heroes, and the rest of it.
