Review: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS4) | G3AR

G3AR: "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is a true return to what made the series great (albeit a couple of iterations ago). Forget realism and forget the idea of it being a war simulator. Most importantly, forget Ghosts we certainly have. Instead, embrace futuristic warfare and bring on the fun."

In a year where the biggest shooters both feature some sort of assisted double jump, its fitting that Call of Duty (the biggest of them all) should join in on the party, strapping on its technologically-advanced exosuit to dash and double jump its way to mobile parity. Call of Duty is no stranger to near-future warfare, of course; both Black Ops II and Ghosts meddled with such futuristic tomfoolery, but Advanced Warfare takes the series a step further with a leap to the 2050s. Any pretence of reality is absent here, extending to a degree of creativity that would have been impossible in an historic or contemporary setting. Youll see drones clutter together in the sky like a swarm of sparrows, enemy bases hidden beneath kilometre-wide digital canopies and the HUD replaced by a digital read-out upon whichever weapon youre currently carrying. Just as it abandoned the dead horse of World War II, so too does Call of Duty leave the tedium of modern conflicts behind, fully embracing the...

| Review: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (New Gamer Nation)

New Gamer Nation writes: "Ive played pretty much every Call of Duty there is. I may have missed one or two, but from Modern Warfare and up, Ive definitely played it. I dont always buy them on release day, and lately Ive been wondering if they are still worth picking up at all. In fact, I claimed Ghosts has the worst multiplayer in the series, and I got so frustrated with Ghosts I wasnt even sure if I was going to play Advanced Warfare. I caved and decided to grab the latest installment, and I can honestly say Im glad I did. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is probably the most fun I had in a Call of Duty game since either Modern Warfare II or the original Black Ops."

GES writes: "Get into your Exo Suit and be part of modern Warfare like never before. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare take you into the future and is very realistic to where technology is going.
Any First Person Shooter fan cannot wait for Cal of Duty to get a new release, and every time the developers have to improve on the previous game. Modern Warfare is the 11th release of Call of Duty and probably one of the most successful gaming franchises out there. Some might say that CoD: Ghosts was a bit of a disappointment and to early adapt to the nex-gen."

Ken McKown writes: They say war doesnt change. In the case of Call of Duty it rarely does. The franchise has seen its ups and downs over time, but last years Ghosts was especially disappointing. A lot of people thought it was finally the beginning of the end for Activisions juggernaut. Then Advanced Warfare came along; reinvigorating what makes the series so popular, while also changing the dynamic of its most popular feature: multiplayer. Sledgehammer has breathed new life into the series. This is a change for the better. The only problem that could stem from this is I dont think I could go back to the old style of Call of Duty after experiencing Advanced Warfare.

Avoiderdragon: Call of Duty: Ghosts was more or less a low point for Activisions cash cow, having sold much less than expected and with a crowd that have become more or less jaded by the annual releases and the same old same old. Its time to set the If it aint broke, dont fix it mentality aside and come up with something fresher. That must have been what the higher ups in Activision had in mind when they had Sledgehammer Games make this.
