GameStop: One-third of BioShock Infinite buyers also purchased a Season Pass

VB - During a conference call with investors today, GameStop confirmed that season passes are a huge success for its retail business.
More than a third of the customers who purchased Gears of War: Judgment or BioShock Infinite at GameStop also bought the downloadable-content season pass for those titles. The publishers of both games are planning multiple expansions. Season passes provide a way to lock gamers into those additions while also providing a discount to the customer.

| [The Nerd Cabinet] Gears of War: Judgment Review

Gears of War: Judgment didnt look promising. Then I read articles, watched gameplay, and watched interviews related to the game. I was swaying more towards buying it. Finally, I found out it included a downloadable version of the first Gears of War game. Also, if I Pre-Ordered from Amazon UK (which I did) I would receive the Young Dom character skin and Classic Hammerburst. I was sold and bought the game I had to, for Dom. I figured even if I didnt like it Id have Gears one back again. I figured I needed to buy it new to keep my favourite game franchise alive and at least its more Gears, right?
Judgments story is short, snappy, and sweet. You get a taste of what happened back in the days when the Locust just began attacking the humans of Sera. It was an absolutely beautiful place.

So, prequels...as a rule they dont appear to work, much like games solely utilising flashbacks as their narrative structure rarely seem to work. So what would happen if you made a prequel which was solely comprised of flashbacks? It would be terrible right? Well, having disaster written all over it and with Epic removing themselves from development duties the team at People can Fly have been handed the reigns to Gears of War: Judgment...

If there is going to be more Gears games, Judgment has certainly set the tone for future development but a number of improvements still linger on the sidelines.

With each passing week, eyes are on the Japanese Vita sales numbers, ever watchful to see the long-term impact of Sony's price cut. This week, its total sales numbers remained impressive, probably thanks to a number of games being released for it. They were ports — One Piece, Meruru, Dead or Alive 5, Pro Baseball Spirits — but at least it was something, and in a country where portables have taken over, handheld ports add significant selling power. Paste: "Some might say that Cliff Bleszinski leaving Epic Games caused Gears to lose a little of its edge, or that Epics farming out of Judgment to the studio People Can Fly gave it a different feel, or that a better Gears of War game will come in the next Xbox console generation. All I can say is that if another Gears game comes down the pipeline, I hope its nothing like this. I miss my big, sweeping set-pieces and my silly one-liners. I dont want tiny, repetitive skirmishes, boring turret sequences, and score screens every few minutes. I dont care about my head-shot count, I care about the Locust Queen. I just want to escape to Sera for a while, and I want the stakes to be high. And while Im dreaming, can the next Gears game star Sam Byrne, please?"

| Gears of War: Judgment Soundtrack Review
Added: 27.03.2013 16:21 | 6 views | 0 comments
The soundtracks from Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3 have been a few of my favorites over the last few years, so yes, I was delighted that the composer of these scores, Steve Jablonsky, was back to write for Gears of War: Judgment. While I was expecting music akin to the sounds from the last two Gears of War games, Mr. Jablonsky—teamed with Jacob Shea—went a different route, making the tracks actually sound older and a bit closer to Kevin Riepl's score for the original Gears of War. You know; it sounds like it is a prequel.
