Nintendo Life: So here's the deal, Wii U owners. The next notable exclusive for the platform isn't due until late June when Game Wario hits North America and then Pikmin 3 hits the same region on 4th August. The eShop DLC-exclusive New Super Luigi U comes in the summer at an undefined point; if you're in Europe, by the way, dates are still needed for all of these games. A host of other titles look exciting and were expected by now but have no release date yet so, hold tight, yeah?

Before Mario and Luigi were ever super, they starred in a platforming arcade game in 1983 simply called Mario Bros. The plumber brothers were asked to check out the rumors of monsters in New York's sewers, and upon finding said monsters, they had to defeat them by jumping on them (only if their backs were turned) or bumping them from a platform below. Players could work together or against one another in clearing each phase, and each phase becomes increasingly more difficult. If it sounds familiar, this game was incorporated into Super Mario Bros. 3 as a versus mini-game between players.

Luigi has been given two starring roles in 2013; one in the recently released 3DS game Luigis Mansion: Dark Moon (which is an amazing game), and another in the upcoming New Super Luigi U, DLC for New Super Mario Bros. U on the Wii U. He also plays an important role in the upcoming Mario and Luigi: Dream Team for the 3DS, where Mario can go into Luigis dreams while he sleeps. Ok fine, that sure sounds like Mario is doing all of the work again, but whatever... well take it. Furthermore, Nintendo has created several Luigi-themed Miiverse communities, and in Japan they are even releasing a Luigi-themed Nintendo 3DS XL."

Last week the much-loved platform holder confirmed that while it would hold behind-closed-doors events for distributers and the gaming press, there wouldnt be a full, wacky conference to show off the latest software including Mario, Luigi and company. The news has baffled most observers, who wonder why Nintendo is choosing to skip the most anticipated E3 event in years. The question on everyone's lips: Has Nintendo made a huge mistake?

BT writes: Due to his strong position as one of the most recognizable faces in all of video gaming, Mario has always received an incredible amount of attention, from Nintendo and gamers alike. However, Ive always had more fondness for his less-celebrated and, in my opinion, far teresting brother Luigi. Whereas Mario doesnt really have too much of a personality beyond being the hero of his tales, Luigi has a cowardly nature that lends itself to great characterization and tons of funny situations. Apparently enough, Im not the only one who appreciates Luigi in such a way, as Nintendo has taken to calling this the Year of Luigi, a year where Luigi will get prominent roles in many upcoming and already released games.
