Nintendo PowerFest Winner "Qik" Will Compete In The Nintendo World Championships At E3 2015

Nintendo Life: At this year's E3, Nintendo will be resurrecting a special event which first took place 25 years ago. The 1990 Nintendo World Championships captured the hearts and minds of an entire generation of players and have since passed into video gaming folklore, arguably laying down the foundations for modern-day eSports. However, what is slightly less well known is that Nintendo followed up the 1990 event with another contest four years later, dubbed Nintendo PowerFest '94. Mike "Qik" Iarossi was crowned the National Champion after defeating Brandon Veach via a head-to-head high score challenge on Donkey Kong Country.

Trailer of the Week: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Cinematic Launch Trailer - Checkpoint Mini #2

Added: 18.05.2015 7:16 | 16 views | 0 comments

Sometimes, disparate individuals and elements come together to create something enduring and magical. Something which wouldn't have existed without an extraordinary array of talent and effort collaborating on exactly the right project at exactly the right time. In the field of video games, or interactive entertainment as I like to call it, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt appears to be such a project, turning everything that its associated with into gold. How else would you explain its Cinematic Launch trailer? An entity which transcends the somehow belittling title of its genre, a genre more associated with recycling messages of urgency and acting primarily as an advertisement to "BUY THIS DAMN THING, we don't care how many spoilers we just showed you over the span of our two minutes!" That this video is the launch trailer for a game is shocking. The effort shines through every frame, spoken phrase, and monstrous scream.

NPD: Xbox One Console Sales Outpace PS4

Added: 15.05.2015 16:00 | 15 views | 0 comments

Microsoft's Xbox One was the number one selling console during the month of April in the United States.

According to the latest NPD report, new-gen hardware sales continue to outperform that of their prior-gen counterparts. "After 18 months on the market for Xbox One and PS4, we are seeing cumulative hardware sales over 50 percent higher than the combined sales of Xbox 360 and PS3 at the same point in their lifecycles." With regard to Microsoft's stellar performance last month, corporate marketing VP Mike Nichols said, "As the best-selling console in the U.S. in April, fans set record April sales and engagement for Xbox One last month," noting that Xbox One console sales jumped up 63 percent versus April 2014. Additionally, Xbox Live's global user base grew in size by 24 percent. PlayStation 4 is still the overall leader in lifetime sales by a fair margin. Do you think Microsoft will be able to slowly catch up and perhaps even surpass the seemingly unstoppable PS4?
