An interview with globe-trotting composer Dale North - Pixelitis

Added: 11.02.2014 18:16 | 2 views | 0 comments

"He is known as the self-titled Corgi King on the Internet and officially as the Editor-in-Chief of Destructoid, but you can now add another title to Dale Norths resume: videogame music composer. North is no stranger to music, having done a fair assortment of arrangements for OverClocked ReMix over the years. His biggest breakout to original game scoring came last year with the release of Dragon Fantasy Book II, a 2013 indie RPG developed by Muteki Corporation for PlayStation 3 and Vita that serves as a throwback to classic 90s JRPGs. The digital and physical versions of the official soundtrack were released via Scarlet Moon Records in early January." - Patrick Kulikowski

The Pixelitis Podcast Ep. 69 Samurai Gootch

Added: 11.02.2014 10:15 | 8 views | 0 comments

"We could have gone the easy route like so many other podcasts. We could have made lewd jokes regarding this episodes number, but I promise you we took the high road. Instead, hosts Patrick Kulikowski, Stephen Hilger and Andrew Martins kept it by the numbers. Yep, no silly comments or anything at all. Just straight talk. This week, we take some time to talk about Valves music aspirations, CCP Games love of its fans and the loss of a loose fowl on our mobile devices. In addition to all that, Patrick also shows us the stark difference between the Resident Evil Dualshock Editions soundtrack and the original after the internet blew up with news that Mamoru Samuragoch didnt actually write the former. What ensues isinteresting, to say the least." -- Pixelitis Staff

One of BioShock Infinite's many foes, the Motorized Patriot, is looking a little more blocky these days thanks to a makeover from Lego artist Carl Merriam. Merriam created the Patriot as part of the Iron Builder competition with fellow Lego builder Pepa Quin. Both participants were required to build high quality creations with the "secret ingredient," a modified white brick.

Looking back at the dual soundtracks of Resident Evil

Added: 08.02.2014 16:16 | 6 views | 0 comments

"A bombshell of a news story came out of this week that undoubtedly surprised fans of Resident Evil and Onimusha alike. One of the series composers, Mamoru Samuragoch, didnt actually write any of the music. Samuragoch (birthname Samuragochi), who was originally thought to have composed the soundtracks to both 1998s Resident Evil: Directors Cut DualShock Ver. for PlayStation and 2001s Onimusha: Warlords for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, has recently admitted through a spokesperson that he had actually hired a ghostwriter to do his work for more than 15 years. The composer has been hailed as Japans Beethoven by Time Magazine back in 2001 for his purported hearing loss in the late 90s. The story gets even juicier when the ghostwriter, revealed to be Takashi Niigaki, publicly questioned Samuragochs supposed deafness." - Patrick Kulikowski

Current-gen version pushed back to March 28.

The game now won't see a release until March 28, two weeks after its original March 14 launch date. The Xbox One and PC versions have not been affected and are still on track to launch in the UK on March 14.

"In these last few weeks before launch, Respawn is in the final stages of polishing the Xbox One and PC versions of the game," explained EA Studios EVP Patrick Soderlund.

"Bluepoint is doing the same with the Xbox 360 version. To give them the time they need to put the finishing touches on the current-gen version of the game, we are moving the Xbox 360 ship date...

The Pixelitis Podcast Ep. 68 Sooper Blah

Added: 04.02.2014 21:16 | 2 views | 0 comments

"Well. That wassomething. Seems Pixelitis Podcast host Patrick Kulikowskis annual tradition of using Tecmo Bowl to predict the Super Bowl winner failed him spectacularly this time. In this weeks episode, hosts Andrew Martins, Karen Rivera and Kulikowski make their way through a fun, if tangent-filled, show. Though its complete with discussion on some of the past weeks headlines, be sure to listen in for why a certain wood is used in both Shinto Shrines and high-end Japanese bathrooms. Theres still a chance to win free music, courtesy of Square Enix VGM folk cover band The World is Square. As always, feel free to hit play below. Confused vision: Wii U Virtual Console needs to deliver

Added: 02.02.2014 21:17 | 8 views | 0 comments

"By now youve probably caught wind of the news emanating out of Nintendos investor meeting earlier this week that the Wii U Virtual Console would become home to digital re-releases of Nintendo DS titles. If youre like me, youre probably wondering why there was no indication of this for the 3DS. After all, wouldnt DS games be a better fit for the 3DS Virtual Console? The Wii U, which recently suffered a major reduction in Nintendos annual sales forecast from 9 million to 2.8 million, sadly doesnt enjoy the kind of following its handheld cousin has. As convenient as it would be to carry DS games on an SD card, putting DS games on the Wii U feels like just another example of Nintendo trying to add another selling point to their embattled console." - Patrick Kulikowski
