Déjà vu at its deadliest Cloudberry Kingdom review | Gaming Trend

Added: 09.08.2013 11:19 | 0 views | 0 comments

Gaming Trend editor Patrick Rost writes: "Those of us who were brought up with a NES controller in our hands tend to have a special love for the old platforming adventure games. No matter who we are in real life, we can all relish in our past exploits in saving numerous princesses. Cloudberry Kingdom, a classic run and jump hero platformer from Ubisoft, fulfills every need for platformer junkies. Then, they take it a step further, breaching new territory in a tried and true genre."

Terraria Review: Nihilism: The Game

Added: 08.08.2013 12:19 | 7 views | 0 comments

Patrick Cassin shares his thoughts on Terraria in a unique sort of way: "I awoke one morning with no particular goal in mind. Being able to live completely off the land I did merely what was necessary to survive. Existing in a world of pointless routine eventually I began to branch out, thinking surely this life must have more to offer, more to see, things to conquer. I was quickly reminded why I had spent so many nights cowering inside my dirt hovel, zombies outside pounding at my door. In the total darkness of the evening I was a sitting duck. And I quickly died."

Grid 2 Review | GES

Added: 07.08.2013 17:19 | 9 views | 0 comments

GRID 2 has two very clear game modes that is packed with cars, courses and action. With the awesome presentation, gameplay and multiplayer the wait has been worth it. The single player campaign starts you off at your first race and there is no easing you into it like most racing games, for me it was a great move by the team. This is where you start your career in World Series of Racing that is the brain child of millionaire Patrick Callahan. WSR is a totally new concept and it is with the help of you and your fellow racers to get interest and hype built for the new series. Seasons that take place all over the world, with new tracks, cars and driving styles as you progress; with you building a fan base and sponsorships. With the True Feel handling system to try and narrow the gap between arcade and simulation the racing cars do feel a little different from each other, but not as much as in Grand Turismo where every car feels different. You do feel the difference between a drift car...

Saints Row IV developer "didn't appreciate" THQ's porn star marketing

Added: 06.08.2013 15:04 | 7 views | 0 comments

"I did not always love how much THQ put an emphasis on porn stars," says Saints Row IV associate producer.

associate producer Kate Nelson said some of the team at developer Volition "didn't appreciate" now-defunct publisher THQ's attempts to promote previous iterations of the series with porn stars.

For Saints Row 2, THQ suggested porn star Tera Patrick had been a "special producer" for the game. "Saying that someone who had no industry experience was in a role that is sexualised as a producer of our project, or saying the penthouse girls are our QA staff#133; I can see the humour in that angle of promotion but for me that's the line where it gets into reality," .

Patrick would later star as as character in Saints Row 2 DLC Ultor Exposed. Former pornographic actress Sasha Grey also voiced the role of Viola DeWynter in Saints Row: The Third.

#133;I did not always love how much THQ put an emphasis on porn stars,#133; says Nelson. #133;In Saints Row 2 and Saints Row 3 there was an emphasis on the penthouse girls, and earlier Tera Patrick."

"I think it#133;s important in marketing games to make sure that the essence of the game is what#133;s being marketed, and I think the porn star angle didn#133;t really fit in with what Saints Row is at heart, which is a parody. We like to poke fun," added Nelson.

Nelson also emphasised that she believed the Saints Row series has empowered women in many ways.

"You can be an important female character--you don't have to have a D cup either. You can be large woman, a small woman--you can be blue," she said.

"You can be who you want to be in the game and you have powerful female characters written into the narrative. I think our game actually does represent women in a positive way, but the press will focus on, oh hey, there are strippers, or there's a dildo bat--it's unfortunate from my perspective that that doesn't come through."

Saints Row IV, which is being published by Deep Silver, will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on August 20.
