Review for Puyo Pop Fever on GameCube. A Puyo poppin' good time. Puyo Pop is a puzzle game series that has been around for a while. Some of its iterations include Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Kirby's Avalanche, but this time around it's titled appropriately. Puyo Pop Fever features classic Puyo Pop gameplay with some welcome additions that make for one addictive puzzle experience.

DriveClubs balanced physics and impressive presentation make for an all-around excellent racer, even if theres still a lot of room for Evolution Studios to expand and improve upon. However, the overly aggressive AI and archaic progression system may deter non-racing fans, while the ongoing online issues remain infuriating. If you can look beyond the tire smoke prompted by the releases poor launch, there is a really enjoyable game here. Still, the uncertain among you may be better off riding shotgun in the elusive PlayStation Plus version before buckling up in the full titles drivers seat.

I may not be able to putt like Woods, score like Beckham, or run absurdly fast like Bolt, but I can head down to the nearest playing field and make a decent go at it. However, those games allow a form of wish fulfillment to take place on the part of the player, giving them the chance for the sport to be recreated at its highest level. Pool, on the other hand, is a more two-dimensional sport. There is only so much you can do standing around some green felt, holding a stick, and smacking around some balls. There is no management simulation, no on-the-fly formation changes and tactics, no real pop culture icons of the sport.
