Time Unlocks the Story in Life is Strange

Added: 23.02.2015 20:10 | 21 views | 0 comments

Marcus Estrada writes: "French developer Dontnod first appeared on my radar when Remember Me was in the works. The unique futuristic storyline did not seem to grab players as a whole, but basically everyone agreed that the Memory Remixing gameplay aspect was worthy of praise. It seems they kept that in mind as their latest game, Life is Strange, utilizes memory and time in its own ways. Although the episodic series has just begun its obvious theyll continue with said timeline-altering features. Of course, framing a completely different story with time mechanics requires careful attention. So how does time interact with Life is Strange, and does it fit?

Roundabout Review | Gamestyle

GS: Well, technically it still is, because this is more Crazy Limo! Actually, it is less like Crazy Taxi and more like GBA classic Kuru Kuru Kururin. Remember that? Hopefully some of you do, because it was and still is a fantastic game. The idea behind the game (and I cant believe I need to avoid spoilers here) is that you take on the role of Georgio Manos, the worlds first revolving limousine driver, who gets a job driving a limo in the town of Roundaboutyeah that is all youre getting here, that is all you need, just go with it. The story is wonderfully stupid.

Life is Strange: Episode 1 Review | RPGFan

RPGFan: Remember those breezy days as a teenage girl at a top private photography high school in suburban Oregon? I sure do, and that's why I love Episode 1 of Life is Strange, a Telltale-esque adventure title published by Square Enix. Worry not, though: while Life is Strange presents early on as catering to a niche market, the themes and quality of storytelling surpass what initially appears to be trite subject matter.

Life is Strange Review | OHP

OHP writes: Who recalls Remember Me? Dontnods debut had some interesting ideas with the memory manipulation, but didnt really offer much beyond that in its core action orientated gameplay. Life is Strange also explores this memory manipulation, but in a vastly different and more realistic setting of a college in Oregon, rather than a futuristic Paris. Its is a bit of a departure, less action orientated and caring more about the narrative and setting. Given how these were the best bits of Remember Me, this episodic adventure is an interesting sounding curio; but do the point and click mechanics hold up?

Life Is Strange - Episode 1: Chrysalis Review - The Digital Fix

Added: 17.02.2015 13:10 | 4 views | 0 comments

Over the past few years, the interactive story genre has become a norm in videogames thanks to the work of Telltale Games, with the 2012 classic The Walking Dead considered to be one of their best releases. Subsequent projects have varied in quality since that masterpiece, which has led to a need for more competition within the genre. Following their work on Remember Me, developers Dontnod Entertainment hope to be the answer to this cry in the form of their new game, entitled Life Is Strange. Despite releasing to little media attention or hype, the pilot episode named Chrysalis has managed to blow away any expectations we held for the genre and set up a world we cant wait to continue exploring in future episodes.
