Life Is Strange: Episode 1 review this action will have consequences | Metro

Metro: The creators of Remember Me return with an episodic adventure that shows Heavy Rain and Telltale Games exactly how you tell an interactive story. We are not fans of Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, and thats putting things lightly. But as weve always insisted, that dislike is not based on the fact that they dont feature any traditional action or puzzle-solving. We dont like them because theyre games that are focused almost entirely on storytelling, and yet the storytelling is terrible. Life Is Strange though is a far more successful attempt at a modern day cinematic adventure.

Life Is Strange: Episode 1 - Chyrsalis Review | GameRevolution

Added: 30.01.2015 8:10 | 4 views | 0 comments

GR: You could fill an inspiration board to the brim with the number of influences in Life Is Strange: American independent films like Juno, Beyond: Two Souls from Quantic Dreams, Hiro Nakamura from Heroes, Dontnod Entertainment's own Remember Me, Telltale Games in general, and time-travelling adventures like Groundhog Day, Steins;Gate, and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. So describing this bite-sized game can easily become a mouthful of comparisons, but it's essentially an episodic slice-of-life adventure game in which a suburban high-school girl gains the ability to rewind time. The concept is both refreshingly subtle and subtly refreshing. Within a couple of hours, the first episode of Life is Strange delivers one of the strongest setups to an episodic video game series in recent memory.

Developer Spotlight: Dontnod Entertainment

Added: 30.01.2015 1:00 | 3 views | 0 comments

The palindromic Dontnod Entertainment, based in Paris, France and founded in 2008, holds an intriguing place in the crowd of game developers. Best known for Capcom's Remember Me, a title that adamantly featured a strong female lead, Dontnod Entertainment has turned to die-minded development with the episodic Life Is Strange and a vampiric RPG set in World War I named Vampyr. This is one studio that doesn't shy away from going against the grain.

'Lumines' Puzzle Series Getting Revived by Japanese Publisher Mobcast

Added: 29.01.2015 21:10 | 2 views | 0 comments

TouchArcade: Remember Lumines? Created by Q Entertainment, it was one of the big PSP launch titles back when that system launched, like a decade ago, which is absurd to think of. Well, Japanese publisher Mobcast and Lumines creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi's new studio Enhance Games have acquired the rights to Lumines and are at work on a new game in the rhythmic puzzle game series for iOS and Android. The game will feature modified gameplay to fit on touchscreens, but expect a similar game feel and some of the same music that made the series what it is. A number of social features will be added, as well. Here's a screen of the most recent Lumines game, the 2012 Lumines Electronic Symphony for the PS Vita, for reference.
