Carl Williams writes, "We covered the Sharp X68000 in our second issue of Retro Gaming Magazine where it was featured alongside a handful of great titles worth grabbing. Had Illumination Laser been availalable at the time, it would definitely have made the list of must own/play games for Sharps gaming computer. Illumination Laser is an overhead scrolling shooter much like Sky Force 2014 and Mig2D, where you are tasked with pretty much eliminating anything that enters the screen."

NWR: "My major complaints about Nintendo's E3 showings in 2012 and 2013 were focused on a lack of surprise. There's more to it, but when it comes down to it, I look forward to seeing what game companies are creating that I didn't expect. In 2012, the biggest surprise game reveal was Nintendo Land. In 2013, the long-anticipated new Retro Studios joint was nothing more than a sequel to Donkey Kong Country Returns. In the grand scheme of things, really awesome games were shown at both of those E3s. Pikmin 3 turned out to be worth the wait...but we always knew it was coming. Super Mario 3D World was really neat, but it was just an iteration on prior Mario concepts."

Carl Williams writes, "Overhead shooters are about as retro as you can get. Even the best looking ones available today on Android or iOS are usually just on par with what the SNES was putting out later in its life, let alone newer consoles such as Playstation or Dreamcast. There simply is not a lot that developers are willing to take a chance on, or add expense by adding to the genre, when creating their overhead scrolling shooter. Infinite Dreams are, somewhat, in that boat. The difference is, they hit a winning combination of style and challenge years ago and are improving on it here and there with each new Sky Force game. This is the 10 year anniversary celebration of Sky Force by developer/publisher iDreams."
