Couric Leads Scare Tactics Against Video Games

Added: 02.06.2013 12:17 | 10 views | 0 comments

Earlier this month, CBS journalist Katie Couric aired an episode on her personal television show (appropriately named Katie) called Are Video Games Ruining Your Life? The episode spoke about Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza, Aurora shooter James Holmes, and finally both Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, the infamous Columbine shooters. A point Couric brought up was the fact that all of these people were in fact huge fans of video games and avid gamers. Along with the Columbine shooting that took place over ten years ago, almost 14 to be exact, Couric also brought up a case in 2007, in which 16 year old Daniel Petric had his game taken away. He responded by taking a gun from his fathers safe, and shooting his mother to death. He also shot his father with the intent to kill, but did not succeed.

Computer graphics engineer and cofounder of virtual reality company Andrew Scott Reisse struck by car carrying suspects fleeing police.

Andrew Scott Reisse, an established computer graphics engineer and cofounder of Oculus VR, was killed in Santa Ana, California on Thursday, ABC news affiliate reports. He was 33.

Reisse was crossing a sidewalk when a Dodge Charger carrying suspects fleeing police struck and killed him. Police say the car was driven by 21-year-old Victor Sanchez, who ran "several red lights," including one near where Reisse was killed.

In a joint statement (via ) from Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe and chief software architect Michael Antonov, the company praised Reisse's accomplishments and said he will be sorrowfully missed.

"Andrew was a brilliant computer graphics engineer, an avid photographer and hiker who loved nature, a true loyal friend, and a founding member of our close-knit Oculus family," the statement reads.

"Some of us have known Andrew since college, and have worked with him at multiple companies beginning with Scaleform in Maryland which he helped start at age 19, then at Gaikai in Aliso Viejo which brought him out to California, and finally at Oculus where he was a co-founder and lead engineer."

"Andrew's contributions span far and wide in the video game industry. His code is embedded in thousands of games played by millions of people around the world."

"Words can not express how sorely he will be missed or how deeply our sympathy runs for his family." Andrew will always be in our thoughts and will never be forgotten. We love you Reisse."

GameInformer- Rayman Legends Preview

Added: 30.05.2013 18:29 | 4 views | 0 comments

GI:Rayman Origins impressed platforming fans with its gorgeous art style and satisfying controls. Ubisoft is bringing back Rayman and friends for Rayman Legends, coming to Wii U, PS3, 360, and now the PlayStation Vita. The Wii U and Vita versions let players interact with traps and platforms using the touchscreen, like swiping to cut a rope suspending a foe. The 360 and PS3 versions dont include touch gameplay, but they still have the same great controls and a variety of vivid environments. I played the PlayStation 3 version of the game during a pre-E3 event in Santa Monica, CA.
