| Kathy Rain Preview | Hooked Gamers
Added: 16.08.2015 20:18 | 18 views | 0 comments
HG:
When I told Matt that we were going to see a new adventure titled Kathy Rain this Gamescom, he immediately said That must be a detective story, and it was.
Kathy Rain is a self-confessed love letter of its lead designer Joel Staaf Hästö to adventure games from the nineties. Actually, it might even be a love letter to the nineties itself, a time which lends itself far better for a good detective story than the world of today. Budding detectives could not look everything up on the Internet, cellphones were a rarity and to go somewhere you mostly used your own navigation skills.

HDR:
Compilation games dont come around very often. When they do, they generally take the form of a Game of the Year Edition that includes a popular game and its previously released DLC. On occasion one will ship that includes several full games in a single value-priced package. These are normally just marketing gimmicks to grab some quick cash from people who didnt catch the games the first time around. Thats much the case with Microsofts Rare Replay too, although the massive Xbox One package is actually worth the price.

| Sheltered Preview | Hooked Gamers

HG:
When you sit down with the good folks of Team 17, you have a 50/50 chance to see something Worms related. Or so I thought, and then they showed us Sheltered, a post-apocalyptic survival game. It was unfortunate that Team 17s announcement of Sheltered more or less coincided with that of Fallout Shelter. Yet seeing the game in action, it quickly became apparent just how different two post-nuclear-bunker-expansion-and-survival (say that quickly 5 times) games can get. And Im not just talking about the pixel art.

| Gamescom 2015: Mutant Mudds Super Challenge is No Pushover | NWR

NWR:
Mutant Mudds was one of my favorite Nintendo 3DS eShop games and one of the few times I struggled to fully 100% a game. When a new game subtitled ''Super Challenge'' was announced, I was both terrified and excited. How could this be made any trickier and keep that fair balance? While I tried it a little bit at MIX in June 2015, I had the time to sit down and play it at my own leisure at Gamescom. What helped is that I was playing it now on the handheld as I saw it only on a console before!

| Wreckfest is the Spiritual Successor of Playstation One Classic Series, Demolition Derby
Added: 15.08.2015 23:18 | 3 views | 0 comments
Carl Williams writes, "When the original Playstation launched in the mid 90s Sony was in a pickle. They had this really cool, pretty powerful console, but no real experience in launching such hardware to the gaming world. They did the only thing that they really could do at the time and that was promote the differences of their console versus those of the competition like the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis and even the Sega Saturn (depending on who you ask the 3DO and Atari Jaguar were either competition or not). The best way to promote the differences between the PSOne and everyone else was to push the 3D capabilities of the console, to the detriment of 2D content early on. One title that rocked the world of those that played it was Demolition Derby by Psygnosis (later to become a Sony subsidiary development team). Destroying cars in 3D was something that was only available on Playstation. Wreckfest is looking to bring back that fun, this time for Steam users."
