Best of 2014 Awards: Best Racing Game
Added: 23.12.2014 20:00 | 13 views | 0 comments
Winner: Mario Kart 8
Mario Kart has always proven itself the leader of the go-karting genre, but it also bests the likes of simulation racer F1 2014 and open-world graphics showpiece Forza Horizon 2 by dedicating efforts towards modernizing what's become stale. In high-definition, players can more easily see weapons carried by their opponents and limiting "drag" to one item at a time means the rest of the pack catches up a lot faster. All told, Mario Kart 8 retains everything you love about the series without dumbing things down. In fact, these simplified mechanics and new items like the Super Horn mean the engines never really cool down.
Nominees: Forza Horizon 2, Mario Kart 8, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, F1 2014, GRID Autosport

| The Crew Review: Definitely Not in Top Gear [NDTV Gadgets]
Added: 10.12.2014 10:11 | 18 views | 0 comments
NDTV Gadgets says: "Unfortunately for a racing game, driving in The Crew is a terrible experience, even if it looks good. The cars handle poorly, and you'll end up crashing into corners instead of taking smooth turns. At the start of the game, the handling of all the available cars is sluggish and unresponsive - compared to a game like Need For Speed Rivals, or GRID Autosport, racing in The Crew feels like a dental procedure."

GRTV interview design director Tom Heaton on the upcoming horror game Until Dawn:
"There's a range of choice and they're meaningful," says Heaton. "The game constantly branches. In big ways and small ways so that your story is unique. It won't be quite the same as anyone else's story. That's one of the big ideas behind the game. That you choose, the game branches, you create your version of the story."

BitMonster, Inc's GRAV is a sandbox online sci-fi adventure in which you team up with a group of other players in shiny armour, and head out to murder the local aliens and loot all their stuff.
Sounds a bit like a certain high-profile Bungie game, right? That's clearly the inspiration for the game, which will launch on Steam Early Access later this year.
